The Dinky Thunderbird 2 was launched in 1967, and remains one of the most popular TV related models in the range. This fact is reflected in its value: Ramsay's price guide for example, values a green version at £700-£900 in mint condition.

There were two different colour schemes for the model - a block green version, and a metallic green version. The latter is much easier to find and carries a value of around £300-£350.

When the model was purchased, the model came with various components:

- Thunderbird 2 model with spring-out legs, stickers and a removeable pod.
- Plastic, yellow thunderbird 4 inside the pod.
- Rectangular box with various pictures.
- Inner plinth - which is unusually tall when stood upright.
- Inner packing card - a piece of cardboard inside the plinth.
- Inner packing piece - a white piece of card whichinto which the model slots.

A major design flaw with the model was the flimsiness of its legs - they were barely strong enough to support the model, and snapped easily. Furthermore, the springs' latches were particlularly weak, and the legs would eventually fail to stay inside the model.

When production ended in 1973, the design flaw in the legs was ironed out and the boxes were updated to Dinky's new plastic cases. It was given the number 106, but unusually the popular green version was replaced with the metallic green version.

This is unusual given that this scheme isn't in keeping with the programme's authentic scheme.
