Yat Ming Road Legends 1:18 Scale
A Review by Dana Johnson

The Fairlane Crown Victoria, with its wrap-around chrome band over the roof and distinctive lines, was Ford's flagship for 1955. Of the 10,000 built, only 603 were made with the see-through green tinted front-half glass roof.

Yat Ming produced this 1:18 scale model as #92138 several years ago. Features include opening hood, doors and trunk, adjustable front wheels, workable steering, whitewall tires, authentic hub caps, and a two-tone white and turquoise paint job.

The Continental kit on the rear adds to the model's classy appearance. A bright red V-8 block is accented by silver-grey and black engine components.

Ford's Crown of Glory.

When Ford's was releasing the 1955 Customline model in Australia the chrome strip along the side ended up being straight. The story goes the pattern models for the chrome strips was damaged far too much for tooling purposes for the local content imput. So the small band of designers and Pattern Makers in Australia simply came up with the straight chrome strip instead to meet the deadline for the production release. Ford Australia were allowed to produce a small amount of parts for cars or trucks for the local content production, which lead to Australia producing their own cars in the end. Australia mainly were shipped knock down module of cars to be assembled in Australia as the Ford Australia stamping plant was very small indeed. Nice pictures and thanks for sharing the Mate.
