Dinky Toys 514 Weetabix Guy Van
The Weetabix Guy Van - perhaps the most desirable Dinky in existence. I am asked about these about once a week, so it is great to finally have one in such an impressive condition. Fitted with rear opeining doors, the model was produced between 1952 and 1954, and production was terminated to make room for the Ever Ready (918) and Golden Shred (919) Guy Vans when the vans were renumbered.

Dinky Toys 235 HWM Racing Car

Above we have a gorgeous 235 HWM Formula 1 Racing Car in its original box. The model was one of the '230 series' cars, amongst which Ferrari and Maserati models featured. The HWM was originally released with the reference 23J and featured in the number 4 racing car gift set. After the renumbering of most dinky lines took place, this gift set was given the revised reference of 249 and contained newly referenced cars. The model was illustrated in the September 1955 issue of Meccano Magazine, and was retailed at 2/6.
The history behind the real car upon which the model was based, is that it was named after the Hersham and Walton Motors Formula 1 Team, based in Walton-Upon-Thames in the UK. The team used Jaguar engines and were best known for their F1 involvement between 1951 and 1955. After the death of one of the founders in 1956 (during a race in Italy), his co-founder discontinued the F1 team shortly after. Surprisingly however, the company does still exist today as an Audi and Aston Martin dealership.

Dinky Toys 260 Royal Mail Delivery Van

Here we have an example of the 260 Royal Mail Delivery Van in its original box. The model uses the frame of a J Morris van, which was notably also used for the 465 blue Capstan vans.
In the example above, the box boasts a dealer label from a Belgian toy shop, named "Au Cadeau Reve" or "Dream Gifts".
The model was originally advertised in the May 1955 Meccano Magazine and was released at a price of 3/-. It was produced for a number of years, until it was withdrawn in 1961, and was also included in the 299 Post Office Services Gift Set.
In perfect condition this item can, at a push, fetch up to £250.
