The first miniature tin armies on the market were two-dimensional recruits which are now called "flats". These lead flats are popular through Germany, where the largest toy museum is in Kulmbach, Austria, and Switzerland and each of those countries have several museums each devoted to these figures alone where they are set up as dioramas whether as a battle or village life.
