Slow Slow Quick from Hornby and Scalextric

by LD Discounts

Its seems to be the same old story from Hornby and Scalextric, they promise to improve supply of their wears year after year but nothing seems to change.

Over the past 12 weeks we could count the number of items on one hand that they have released. From now till the second week of June we are expecting around 30-40 items from them.

There are around 15 new cars that are expected from Scalextric and loads of trains and wagons from Hornby. We are updating the release dates for all pre order items on our site as best we can to keep you informed of the imminent releases.

Fly slot cars are coming back again.....

by LD Discounts

The same story once more Fly slot cars are coming back, we have heard that they have secured further investment and they are set to release 7 cars in the not so distant future.

There are some old and new shapes that are set for release. We are sorry but we cannot get the images from the details that we were given, as we cannot get the images from the file.

But the cars that are set for release are

The current release dates we have for 15 Scalextric cars that are set for release in 2010 have an expected delivery date to Hornby on the 20th of December.
We doubt that retailers will receive stock of the Scalextric cars in the UK till the 21st or 22nd of December at best and any mail order companies are not going to be able to get the cars to their customers in time for Christmas.

This will upset a lot of people who have been waiting all year for the cars that they pre ordered or if the cars do turn up in time, collectors are going to be left with a huge bill at Christmas, which we are sure that they would not want when normally credit cards take a bashing.

Christmas Stock update for Scalextric

by LD Discounts

Stock has been very hard to come by this year
With many releases running behind this year it has put a huge amount of pressure on many items that have been released during the year and many Scalextric cars have already sold out or will be sold out soon. Production issues are believed to be the reason once more. However with news that Bachman have purchased the factory that all Hornby and Scalextric items are produced this has got Hornby running scared and now are looking to move their production elsewhere. To be honest you cannot blame them for this. But with it take over 3 years to get over supply problems are this going to start all over again??
There are many reasons for the shortages across the entire Scalextric range. One is that the James May toy stories TV programs increased the profile of Scalextric and as yet they have not been able to recover stocks of sets since before last Christmas and this has put demand up for accessories as well. News that we are receiving is that this year further set shortages are due in the UK. We would recommend that if you are looking for a set purchase this Christmas try to make it as early as possible.
A note of a few items that are going to be short stocked or sold out are as follows:
Scalextric Audi R8 C3060 (just over 1000 released, we are sold out already in 3 weeks)
Scalextric C1260 Pro GT  (This set is always in short supply, last year we ran out of stock early November)

Shortages for Digital chips C8515, we expect this to become a problem early next year.

Scalextric 6 car powerbase is coming....

by LD Discounts

At long last we have confimation that the Scalextric 6 car powerbase C7042 is finally on its way to the UK. The item is expected to be here early September. The wait has been long but we hope it will be worth it.

We have heard news that the item is already available in the US.

Scalextric Start sets now available

by LD Discounts

Despite many items being delayed this year, Scalextric have released their Scalextric start sets.
These sets are a little different to current releases, the start sets now only uses two types of track a single curve and single length straight. With these two pieces you can make any shape track without the need for any other different shaped or sized track. Currently we are still awaiting delivery of the track pieces but we would expect them to be in stock very soon. Also there is a convertor straight that you can use to connect the new type of track to any old track or sports track you may have.
The sets are very basic and the cars go back to the old school where you have to apply any decals supplied with the cars and the cars use old style parts, we believe this is an attempt to keep the cost of these set as low as possible and Scalextric have achieved this with the largest set retailing for only £79.99.

You have to take your hat off to Scalextric with the clever track geometry so you only need two piece of track. It will make creating track a simple operation for even young children.
We are sure that these sets are going to be a success this Christmas and with the twin packs of the car available for less than £30 we expect these to fly off the shelves for any customer who owns a slot car racing track.
