Jim, I am going to accept your comment as an answer and say yes, it is the #285 Merryweather Marquis.
A model I wanted for many years as it has such presence with loads of play value.

My dad bought me one of these when we went to Hamley's , I still have it somewhere & it was a great toy with so many features including the working fire hose, it was also very heavy , my one when i find it is minus it's hose & the frame that hols the ladder on got broken.

A bit off topic, but I went to Hamley's the last time I was in London, which was in 2004. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Routemaster in Finsbury Park. I went there to have an interview with a writer about a book he was writing about the RM and the enthousiasts.....
