I'm trying to find some toys I had (or played) as a kid in the 80's - trying to recapture my youth I guess - but there are a few that I'm having trouble with. The main problem is that I can't remember their actual names, but I can provide some good descriptions:

1. The first was a handheld racing game. It was similar to, or perhaps a knock-off of, Mattel Auto Race. This one, however, was mechanical not electronic, based around a thin plastic belt with images of cars which rotated under a plastic screen. The controls were laid out much like auto race, with a steering wheel and gear shift at the bottom. It also had a reset button which allowed you to move away from a crash (crashes were indicated by a red light and buzzer). A mechanical counter was used to tally your score. The unit was black with gray or silver lettering, and operated from two "C"  batteries. I had two of these at one point, so I assume they were fairly common, however I have been unable to find any reference to it on the internet.

2. The second was a handheld movie viewing device. This was much smaller then the Fisher-price viewer, blue in color, and operated from one "AA" battery. It had the words "Sneak Preview" printed on it. The movies cartridges were round and contained about 30 seconds of 8mm film - I still have one of the cartridges and here's what it looks like:

I remember seeing store displays of these in the late 80's, with cartridges featuring clips from many popular movies and TV shows of the time.

3. The third was similar to Penguin Race, except it had several small plastic cars that slid down rails and somehow got lifted back to the top. It was centered around a toy garage. I believe I got this for Christmas '88.

4. Fourth, was a game that is rather hard to describe. It was housed in a rectangular plastic unit, which looked something like a toy hockey rink. There was a small metal top, you would set it on a spindle above the rink, then crank a handle to make the top spin at a very high speed. Another button or lever would release the top onto the rink, and it would *violently* bounce off the sides of the rink. The object was to have the top land in one of the pockets on either side, scoring a point. I'm guessing this was discontinued for safety concerns - the spinning top could really hurt your fingers!

5. Another game I remember was similar to the dice pop-up games of the 80's. This however, featured a variety of different-shaped objects, which you had to place in the correct slots before the timer ran out (and popped them all out again). Can't find any info on this either.

6. I had another pop-up game, but after almost 30 years I've all but forgotten what it was. I believe it had dice housed under a plastic sphere, and the whole unit looked something like a small bubble gum machine. This is all I can remember.

Any advice on these would be appreciated.

That last one rings a bell. There was a board game, can't remember the name at the moment, that used a pair of dice under a plastic dome to make your roll. Pop the plastic dome and the dice would jump up and when they landed you moved your playing piece that number of spaces. Aggravation comes to mind,

I think the fourth one you are looking for was Perfection or Concentration. I remember the description you give, but the name is lost. The third one almost sounds like battle tops I think, but again not sure.

You're right, #5 (you said #4) was indeed Perfection. They are readily available and I can easily purchase one.

I remembered another detail about #3 (with the cars the ride down the rails). The cars glowed in the dark - it was really neat to watch with the lights off.

The link to the photo for #2 doesn't work - here's what it should look like:

Your right, my mistake. Trying to do three things at once. I really need to find some more hours in the day...

Number 6 six sounds like a variation of Trouble, but I'm not sure there either. I have a Trouble game in the hall closet from decades ago, but it's a board game with the dice in a plastic dome. You push down on the top of the dome, the dice jump around, and you move your pieces around the board. The one you are describing could be called Double Trouble, again, I'm not sure. By that time I was interested in other pursuits. I should have stuck with toys....
