Here\'s one of the few models that have survived a good twenty years or more.

Problem is, could never decide if the top was going to be up...

...or down

No matter how you look at it...

It looks really cool either way.

I tried to keep it real.

including the engine bay. That was tricky.

But wait... there\'s more!!!

There are two modifications on this car. The first one was my first attempt on making a hinge for the engine cover.

The second was making the backseat fold down.

Both took an enormous amount of time to think through. Esspecially as both needed to be hidden in plain sight. I cut out a piece of cloth from an old shirt to make the back seat and floor cover to hide the big gap underneath. Plain old sellotape is the actual hinge for the backrest of the rear seat.

Its a lhd US VW Convertible with GB number plates and a GB sticker. American exports do happen from time to time, even to Britain

That is a really nice Beetle, I love the opening engine cover. Who made it? The kit itself, I mean - I know you built it:)

Also, if I remember rightly, I think all the last Beetle convertibles were LHD, even the ones they sold here.

oh, its just that I put a GB decal on the back. I had all these decals with numberplates and countries and just planted them on a lot of models when I was a teenager.

Can\'t remember who the manufacturer was. It will take some time to dig it up.

Ah right, sorry, I thought the plate decal had come with the kit.

I think this is Revell (although I\'m not sure!)

Could well be Revell. Very popular in the eighties. It would make sense \'cause I got the transporter only a few years before and repainted it with the same paint.
That would be this Transporter.

thanks, the beetle turned out the way I liked it with whatever I had available.

The T3 microbus was basically restored and rebuild.

This is one of three model kits I didn\'t stick to specs.
