My point exactly...1/43.

How could they make such a mistake and for how many years has this model (and possibly the other models in the range), been catalogued in the various reference books as a 1/43 rd scale model, simply because that is what is on the baseplate!!!

Two modified Silver Ghosts, the black and lilac one based on a Simplex chassis. Must say that it is a very good platform and comibination to work with.

When Henry (Pa) Royce bought his first (real) motorcar in 1903, a Decauville, he was very soon disgusted by the poor quality of the product. Being a man in search of perfection, this induced him to build his own car.

The first Royce car saw the light of day in 1904, a 2 cylinder 10HP vehicle which was lightyears better than any motorized product available on the roads in them days.

A three cylinder 15 HP, a four cylinder 20 HP, a six cylinder 30/40 HP as well as an eight cylinder Henry Royce designed car (the latter a complete failure) followed. The sheer quality of the earliest Royce car was the prime motive for Charles Rolls to search allegiance with whom he called the greatest designer ever. That created the Rolls Royce brand.

From 1906/7 Rolls Royce adopted the single model policy, the ubiquitous Silver Ghost.

I have tried to make a look-alike of a 4 cyl. so called "Light Twenty" Rolls Royce from 1905, and here the result. It is based on a Yesteryear Peugeot chassis and coach, mated to a LLedo Rolls Royce bonnet and over sized Yesteryear artillery wheels. A basket case of parts joined into a presentable model.

One of the few survivors of the Light Twenty:

Thanks Theo, I was positive that it would work out fine, and yes it did.
Here a few more pics as well as the two Yesteryear Bentleys I gave a code 3 today.

Thanks Stéphane, switching over to an early Rolls Royce Light Twenty instead of a Silver Ghost was a nice thing to do.

This opens the possibility to do some more, like Little Sue or the 3 cylinder 15 HP as well. Reading this book was my main inspiration to dig deep into the very early Rolls Royce history.
