TOPIC: Lone Star Tankers modified

Lone Star Tankers modified 14 years, 7 months ago #1

Here are two Lone Star tankers bought in poor condition and repainted in Shell and BP livery.  I am sorry I do not have detailed progress photos as I never kept such records but will do so in future.  The decals I sourced on ebay.  Got to learn to do my own.
They have been done for my collection.  I have done a third in Mobilgas livery and will be doing a Caltex version soon.  It seems I have managed to get photos up on my gallery at last.  Thanks to all that emailed with suggestions.

Is this truck a Berliet?

btw, I love the little details like the lights. Looks like a fun truck to renovate.

There are different petrol stations as well.

Here in New Zealand we\'ve got Gull, G.A.S., BP, Caltex and Shell

Matchbox had one with ARAL - that\'s an odd one to collect, very htf.

I don\'t think so although I am not sure of it\'s make. The models do not have a baseplate. They are a nice shape though and quitee easy to work on.

I am not sure what petrol companies were around in the 1960\'s but these will come close.

Thanks. At least the 4 I am doing are on the list. I will look up the livery of some of the others and if I get more cheap tankers will keep going. Thanks again for the information.

I like what you have done with those Tankers. They look great. I have not seen many of these Lone Star Tankers. Thanks for posting them.

I think the blue/white original is probably the ARAL tankers. The Matchbox versions tend to be in that colour scheme. Just a thought.

Can\'t say I recall seeing a matchbox ARAL tanker. The lone Star blue and white original tanker had a \"Milk\" sticker on it.

Here is a Mobilgas version of a Lone Star tanker that I did. It is the third in my series.

That ESSO looks like a sweet conversion

It could be long nose Austins although I am not sure as the nose looks more like the Berliet with the slopping grill. Very nice job on restorations. I have a couple of those from way back in history.

I\'d stay with the Berliet guess
