Some really nice work there. Are the cranes from Matchbox toys? Looks like your using the three piece split axles too.

thank you... yes all the parts are from matchbox models... I'm not sure what you mean by

"using the three piece split axles too" sorry...

here's one or two more... from July 2012

Two axles with a sleeve in the middle instead of peening over the ends. These look like that.

I thought it was something to do with the configuration of the
rear axles....

yes... now I know what you mean... Easy-Fit or Hollow axles is the
term I am more familiar with...

that's what I use now on most of the code 3's I make... Matchbox
Dinky Corgi Spot on etc...

they are very easy to fit and use especially when any peening is close to
the casting body...

That is where masking tape, towels and other soft stuff comes in for my work. I don't use the Hollow axles but retain or replace the solid axles. If I replace they are usually reproduction or finishing nails. I also have hobby rods I can use when longer or thinner axles of shafts are needed. I still peen over or crimp my axles.

I still do some peening and crimping and use the original axles
when I can or I do have new dome head solid axles for Matchbox models these are
only 1-1/8" long so there great for the majority of the cars trucks etc. for
other dinky corgi solid axles I used "silver steel" which is a steel rod and
comes in 12" lengths in various diameters...

but when I am doing 50 plus models a month the easy option is the
hollow axles also it's a dead give away that the are a custom code 3 model and
can't be mistaken in anyway for any rare versions... (not that they would as I
don't copy any rare versions as a rule..)

a few more from July 2012...

Sorry, had to change your text color. Could not read it. I fully understand about the not mistaking it for a real Matchbox or Dinky , Corgi, Spot-On or any other toy you or I restore or code 3. Most of my work is as close to original as I can get so you and I are on the opposite side of the same pool so to speak. It is interesting to see other techniques and to learn them. Thanks for sharing.
