This one has a plastic grey dolly wheel and spun hubs.

The thing I find interesting that I have not seen before is the axle has both ends peened over. Hard to see in the photos. One hub seems to be frozen onto the axle.

A little hard to see in the pictures.

The hubs are different too.
First shot is of the outside. I have put a reproduction spun hub that are the same as on all other similar hubs like the Rolls Royce Silver Wraith.

This next shot is of the inside of both hubs.

I have not seen this mounted hub before. But it is original! Does Jaqcues know?

Perhps soak it in cola to remove it from the axle if you don't want to use force

I have taken it apart and stripped the caravan and bead blasted it. Ready for some primer.

Are you going to peen the axle of the front wheel or are you crimping it?

Re: Dinky 190 Caravan Restoration 1 week, 3 days ago #10

Platinum Boarder
i do my best to peen the end of the axle over. Not hard, just have to be careful and I use a bunch of tape to protect the Caravan body up front.

Lets continue.
I had planed to put this 190 Caravan with a standard Vanguard #153 but I don't have that color anymore.

It is about the same color as the Caravan that Dinky painted.

I am now putting it with a Dinky189 Triumph Herald I restored in March of 2016

It is a lighter color.

The top half was masked off and then sprayed with 2 coats of Pale Cream

I seem to be getting better at spraying these lines and not wasting paint of areas I don't need it. Just enough for the next color to grab.
