TOPIC: The real one and the model

The real one and the model 1 month, 1 week ago #1

Platinum Boarder

In most cases one would think someone wants a model after the real car......so, time to do it the other way. Got the real car first, and started to look for the model. It wasn't that easy, and an axact copy of my car is not for sale, wierdly enough.

So, I thought about buying a model and do it like my car. Therefore I did not want ot buy an expensive model, because I did not know if I would be succesfull. An expensive model hurts more when you cannot succeed.......

What scale? I decided on a 1:18, but the exact colour was never made. However, this one comes close. Besides I know from experience these 1:18's can be a pain. Sometimes hood, rear lid, engine and windows are sealed in, as I found out that was the case with this one.

Found a bargain on the Dutch Marketplace in the end. However, there were some difficulties......

The model shown here is the USA version, thank God. There is also a version for the rest of the world...... different hood, wheels, front spoiler, side mirrors......

I wanted it to look exactly like the real one, so here we go.

The base was screwed on, so there the upper shell. Yes, windows indeed glued in and also the engine sealed in on all sides.....

The dash, ONE piece besides the steering. The dash is the first type, my car has the upgraded dash. Never mind, you won't see that from the outside.

Alu accents and steering-flippers added.

Now then, the wheels are originally black, I wanted them silver. No way you can take the off the axles, everything is one way sealed together. No point then to go through my pile of 47 pairs of 1:18 wheels.......

So I handpainted the wheels.

I bought the option 'side louvres' for my car, which cover those little side windows. As you are not able to look through them, they are of no use anyway.

The exact size with paper.

Before those were placed, I amde the rear upper spoiler. Paper first for the shape, and after that, yes......curtain blinds.

Several layers glued onto each other. As it is not one straight piece, this was difficult.
