Kit Dinky 34b Royal Mail Van 2 years, 2 months ago #1

Here is one of two kits I got in The Box From Cam. Not sure where he got them but one of them has a very faint indentation of works on the base. Not too sure if you will be able to read this or not.

Looks good so far.
Here it is with the first coats of paint.

I gave it another coat of this New to me red paint. I used it on the Ferrari in another post.

There is something showing up on the left side of the van body under the Royal Mail words

Now for masking.

The masking on the inside is so I can paint the rear inside fenders and the axle support black
And I mean Black

After taking off the masking this is what I have found.

I have some touching up to do.

You can see where the masking tape peeled off the paint. Also there are places that need some red paint and you can now really see the blemish under the Royal Mail wording. Casting flaw I did not see until it was painted. I am hoping that I can touch that up so it is not so noticeable.

It looks good from this side of the pond!
Is it made of soft white metal?

Re: Kit Dinky 34b Royal Mail Van 2 years, 2 months ago #10

Platinum Boarder
Feels and works like Mazak.
It is not white metal for sure.
I had to file the roof on the Taxi as there was a long ridge on the rear of the roof. I did not mention that in the text.

I have finished off this one too. 34b Royal Mail Van. I painted the black panels under the doors. I figured it would be easier to brush paint them after I stripped it of masking tape. You be the judge.

The Royal Mail and the emblem seemed rather hard to paint this time. I have done better.

Yup, as I thought. That white spot is a mark. I have to touch that up.

im sure there are usually holes in the rear doors of this van

Re: Kit Dinky 34b Royal Mail Van 2 years, 1 month ago #15

No holes in this body. It is a new casting, not sure when Cam bought it but it is not original nor is it old. I was referring to the white mark behind the door last picture above.
