<p>After surching in the scap box, i added some extra's ,like a vizer, a drum filter on the side, made from an elco.</p>
<p>Looked good, but a wind deflector added and then the decals.</p>

<p>some little indicator lights on the fenders, and one on the roof.</p>
<p>antenna and decals added.</p>
<p>I tried the Scania trailer, but was not happy with the combination.</p>
<p>So my recently made Bandit trailer was added and it fits like a glove.</p>
<p>The decal on the trailer is printed on see trough paper an spray gleu attached , after a coat of clear it looked great.</p>
<p>below pics of the result.</p>
<p>Hope some of you likes it.</p>

Quite the rig and sure looks the part of a south western hauler in New Mexico or Texas, that is for sure.
Thanks for showing and describing what you did to make this great looking truck come to life.

That looks good. Are you going to add heat shields to the fronts of the exhaust stacks or is that what the cross hatching on them is supposed to represent?

Re: Freightliner with Badit Trailer. 5 years, 10 months ago #8

Expert Boarder
good question.
i will think about making the exhausts more
realistic.
i
they look abit toy like now.
thanks for your input.

Looking very realistic!. The way you made the print on the sides is really clever. Did you use an inkjet or laserprinter for it? Ink seems to faded when exposed to sunlight, so I think it is very clever giving it a clear coat.

<p>thanks Routemaster, i used an inktjet printer on white decal paper. After drying the decals i always put varnish on the decals, slightly larger then the decals, to cover the edge<span style="font-size: 12.16px;">s,</span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12.16px;">The big print on the trailer had 2 coats of clear sprayed on, after the gleu dried.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12.16px;">The bandit picture was printed in color on mat e see trough paper.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12.16px;">this is why the surface of the trailer was painted white before aplying the print.</span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12.16px;">if you use spray on gleu, you got no wrinkles.</span></p>

Spray on glue goes on very uniform, therefore a good surface for the paper to stick to unlike gluing with a brush that leaves mountains and valleys in the glue due to the brush strokes.

Theo, Don't you remember Rob Lowe (Oldtrucks56)? He did the same thing but printed his out on both paper and decal paper at times. He did lots of small scale trucks like this.
He has threads in one of the categories here. Mostly in Trucks and in Restos theads. Most of his pictures are gone due to the Photo Bucket drop out.
