Second correction of today.
Note the copper colored axles. I find these from time to time. Some are copper colored or maybe they are a type of copper alloy. Other times I find them and they look silver like they are steel axles but when I polish them up they are actually this same copper color.

They sell a kind of 2-3mm copper rods over here. They are used for welding. Copper is too soft in my opinion for axles, as they bend easily

That is why I think they are an alloy. The hammer just like the regular axles Dinky and Corgi have. Maybe they are bronze? I don't know enough about alloys to really say. They are just as hard as Dinky axles are supposed to be.
Copper over here is usually used for Brazing and such. I know the rods you mean and they are used for certain types of welding too.
