TOPIC: Dinky Foden conversion into a Castrol tanker CODE 3

So far this has been the most intense conversion I took on. Some time ago I came home with a Foden 905 body, which had the flatbed missing.

In my spare parts box, I had 2 Matchbox SuperKings tanker bodies. So what could I do with them? Marry them and make a very special conversion/ code 3 sprung to mind. After investigating the net for suitable photos, I decided that a similar tanker was the best option.

Enjoy

Although not an Atkinson truck, the Foden is a good replacement. So these are the parts I had.

I only had the tanker body, not the tractor

Then I had do grind and file much metal away

to get this result

Then there were holes to be filled

Had to do the same process for the trailer and cut it to length

See if it fits

It is coming together slowly

Now the trailer with sides

and without

Some costmetic surgery was needed on the sides

Testing

and a few coats of paint

And these are all the parts before asembly. Decals for a 1/24 racing car were perfect

I decided for hollow axles instead of the original ones. And here is the finished result:

I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I did in making this code 3

Theo your genius skill shows in this model. I had seen the bare parts during the last NAMAC regional meeting in which you showed me what you were up to, but the result is smashing. On top of that I like the Castrol brand because of its colors, the logo and its racing pedigree from the past.

Like I said before Theo you are just like a Swiss army knife that cuts the real mustard.

Very well done and full 5 star code 3. This should be pinned to the top of the Resto Section and be on display as it is one of the best resto's I have seen on here in quite some time.
Congrats on a great build.

Thanks Rick, I used Holts polyester filler, it is a 2 component filler, it hardens in 10 minutes and can be sanded straight away

I used to be somewhat numb when it concerned model car trucks, they never really attracted my attention. But since I met Theo and visit the NAMAC swap meets together I have learned quite a lot. There is something about Dinky Fodens that keeps buzzing in my mind.

Now I remember, its has the looks of a "sad" cute doggie
