Passion for ordinary streetcars

Here's where you can discuss all general diecast stuff - mystery items, ask who made a model of a particular car, ask for info about an obscure manufacturer or chat about anything else related to vehicles smaller than 1:1 scale!

Love the boat tail Rivi. Friend of mine in high school had one. Great looking cars, all of them. Thanks for showing them.

Now these are all classic cars and Minichamps is a great maker , a bit pricey but well worth the premium in my opinion...Good to have you on here.. tell us a little more about yourself and show more of your collection...and all of these cars appeal to me...as you say ordinary cars but that bit special....

Ben, welcome to PD and I wholeheartedly share your passion for ordinary streetcars, so I love your contributions. I'm sure you have found, like me, that this can be quite an expensive passion because many mainstream makers prefer to churn out the exotic cars mostly. I have just recieved my latest 'investment', all the way from Hong Kong despite being a Norev diecast: a 1968 Toyota Corona MkII. I also have 3 Neo Models waiting at the post office: a 1966 Ford Taunus 12M 4-door (P6), a 1968 Ford Tunus 20M Coupé (P7b) and a 1964 Saab 95 Kombi. Two more Neo models are already in my collection: NSU 1200c, 1969 and Borgward P100 (Grosse Borgward), 1960.

I hope to see more of your collection soon and hope you'll enjoy it here.

HAAAAA!!!! A small tribute to me???

The first Ritmo my Grandpa had was the 60 in this exact same color: this is another great thing of those years: the courage they had in presenting COLORS!!! Present day cars are dull in color!

The Taunus Coupe' of 1968, what a beauty. And the GORGEOUS and incredibly comfortable and futuristic CX: drooling and drooling and drooling, again and again and again! nother two cars I'd love to drive on ordinary days. But then, one of those days should have some 80 hours, unless Niall lets me use his invention )

Ben, not only are the models in your collection excellent, but your photography is of a very high professional standard. The shadows are pleasingly blurred and not too intense, yet the models are crystal clear.

I've never had much joy with photography myself and would love to know how you get such beautiful results. Do you use a tent? What kind of lighting etc.?

Cheers, Dave.

Thank you for the compliment Dave !

I use a very simple Sony camera but I only make pictures with bright daylight behind the window.  No sun because of warm glow and/or sharp shadows.

And a white piece of paper in my other hand as a "reflection-screen"

I compose a phot-duo out of two separate photo's with a simple photo-editting program.

This is how I do it  (Sorry for the Dutch language in the pictures):

The result:

Ah Ben, thank you so much, this is excellent. After breakfast I'll get down to a bit of translating with BableFish, I'm sure it won't be a problem.

Thanks again - and a Merry Christmas!

Dave.
