When the Rolls Royce Phantom V was introduced at the Earl's Court Motor Show of 1965, it attracted a lot of attention. James Young's design won the gold medal, Mulliner's got silver.
In spite of the overwhelming interest in these car, there were not many buyers. Mind you a Phantom V chassis carried a price tag of 3.200 Pounds, a James Young body added another 6.150 pounds, (a total of 180.000 pounds in present day's money) before the car was ready be delivered.
A real expensive car with a fuel consumption of 1ltr. on 5 km, but a price consumption of 1 Rolls Royce on 17 Mini's.
