Extraordinary find where either Dinky or Solido were very lazy with their designs and components, I suspect Solido was the lazy one, but that is only an assumption.

both Citroen 2CV6 are identical except with some minor branding and what looks like one number change.

I got my Solido in 1987, and both models were Made in France. Mid-80s seems to be a fair bet that Solido bought out the 1/43 scale models from Dinky. Perhaps they were made on the same assembly line.

If you have any of these modern Dinky Toys from the 1980s, how many do you recognize in this little group?

Hi Richard and Happy Birthday!

It was Solido that supplied the basic models to Dinky, because Dinky had virtually gone to ground and had to source models from various other companies to be able to stay in business.

As we all now know, Dinky collapsed and Solido are still with us.

Here a BMW 530, the purple one is a Dinky and the white Solido.

The Dinky has Solido wheels on it which I think looks much nicer

Dinky use nr 1404 and Solido nr 1304.

The other info on the bottom is the scale 1/43 and 07 80, that could be the date af releasing?

Now playing with them I think maybe it would be nice to produce a set of bumpers for the Dinky.

Two more Dinky's made by Solido : Peugeot 504 (it had Flame stickers on the sides) and Citroen Visa.

There are some more : one or two Alfa's.

They were made in France after the Dinky factory there closed.

Solido went through a bad time earlier this year but was saved by  a German group and is producing again  (not in France though).

Yes Aad,
the dates on the base are indeed the dates of releasing.

We had a whole thread dedicated to this subject back in 2011 (I think it was) - these are the models that appeared on the "Cougar" subbrand.
