This morning I went on my bike to the city centre of IJmuiden. There was a small carboot sale.

I managed to buy 3 cars for 12 euros, which is an absolute bargain

Dinky 29C double decker bus.

French Dinky 24H Mercedes Benz 190SL

Lion Car Opel Record (Rekord)

The bus is still puzzling me. It has no number on the base, but it is defenately the type 3 gril Leyland.

The Mercedes Benz 24H is in resonable shape, don't know yet if it is another project or not.

And then there is the Lion Cars. Made in Holland in 1958. An error on the base, The Opel is called Rekord, but Lion Car made a mistake and wrote Record. This is a rare car. And a resto project All and all a great day for me.

Amazing finds Theo. Especially the Lion Cars Opel, which I have not seen before. I never thought I made those. The wheels are typical Lion Cars.

Love that Rek(c)ord!   It's a rare one.  The yellow to red paint job makes it look very festive!

Thanks guys,

I have a book about Lion Cars and I found out that the model was produced in 1958, in various colors: light blue, marroon, yellow, grey and light grey.
Because the original color is maroon on this particular car, I shall paint it that color too.

I think I start tonight with removing the base and the paint.

Some lovely scores there Theo. That bus is a Number 290.

Rekord of this type did come in both colors. Maroon or dark red will look good.
