Crazy stuff and fire is such a draw on the imagination. I don't understand why this would happen. Would never be allowed here in Canada. They would have fire trucks and police in riot gear all over the place. Dealing with people like that is hard and rules need to be followed but if the mayor and other officials don't set the tone and condone this, what do they expect. They are lucky the whole town did not catch fire and burn to the ground. I don't think she will make the next election if she has ideas like this. Tickets to the USA? really? how absurd, just stop them, corral them and take them to jail or erect a fence around them and let them all fight it out. LOL

Jim, there is no such thing as an elected mayor overhere in the Netherlands.
In reality about all of the (male and or female) mayors are nominated without consulting the population of the relevant town or city. That is democracy Dutch style.
Many, if not all of these mayors are former politicians who screwed up, did not get re-elected in parliament and in stead opted for a position of mayor.
I can give you several dozens of examples of mayors who are as dumb as a wild boars's arse. One specific example; in the city of Arnhem, a new mayor was instated of North African origin, Mr. Ahmed Marcouch, last year. He is a member of the labor party who lost 29 seats of the 38 they had in parliament during the 2017 elections, an absolute record. What is so special about this Mr. Marcouch? First of all he has no experience with leading a city council whatsoever, but far worse is the fact that he is a member of an Islamic movement who promotes hatred etc. vs. the west.
Go figure............

That sounds crazy and does not seem to be a democratic way to get a mayor into the seat. That would never wash over here. Even appointed people have to meet a certain standard and have vetting to go through. Still, having said that, people like Donald Trump still get elected. Go figure.

Democracy is also democracy even if the outcome does not suit you.

Therefore the EU coucil, parliament and such are consisting of unelected people only. They rule us but we cannot elect them or send them away. Image what would happen if all those stupid people of Europe would get a chance to vote, shivers............

Did you know that ambulance and fire brigade people in the city of Amsterdam wear bullet and stab proof vests, when doing their job, since about 6 months.

You would expect the police to wear those, and they do, but apparently the situation has changed.

I wonder why..........................

Emergency services are often regarded as authorities or are considered the enemy because they are there to correct what the scum are trying to achieve like burning down a town. As such they are targeted by such scum and require personal protection to their jobs. That being helping people. Go figure, they have to protect themselves in order to protect and serve others

the mayor definitely seams to be an idiot. As Nobelco (from western Canada) mentioned, you wouldn't see something like that here. I can confirm that wouldn't happen here in central Canada either. Each province has its own fire and safety codes but they all pretty much have the same requirements and prescriptions. In my jurisdiction, assuming we were aware of the plan to torch a wooden skyscraper, they would have been stopped from piling the pallets let alone setting them a blaze.

As usual overhere, there were quite a number of incidents this new year's eve whereby emergency people have been the target of violence and such.
A number of arrests have taken place (as usual). These criminals (that is what I call them) will get a sentence of approximately 20 upto 60 hours of community service, and then there are off the hook. And still there are people believing that this community service is the best way to go. Imagine real punishment, how dare you, that is absolutely inhumane, the sheer thought of it.............
But it does not need to be New Year's eve for such incidents to happen in a city like Amsterdam. When an ambulance or fire truck is called, it will be escorted by the police, in order to protect the emergency people and to keep the 'criminals' at bay.
In the western parts of Amsterdam, the area we call The Gaza Strip, a police car will never go alone in that area. If it does and the policemen turn their backs on the car to do their job, inside a house or building, the car will much likely go up in flames. Here several examples.
Long live the muli cultural society..............wir schaffen das...........
and when those "criminals" find themselves in need, they wonder why there are no emergency services to help them.

She certainly is, but not because of this alone. She has much more on her tally-stick and should have been kicked out a long time ago. The situation in The Hague is something with a very long history. I was born in that city and lived there upto my 8th birthday (1960). In the days between x-mas and new year, my parents did not allow me to play outside, because of the 'preparations' for New Year's eve fires of burning x mas trees in the streets. Even then there was a lot going on. Gradually through the years, the vandalism and fires grew bigger and bigger, and the maintenance of law and order shrunk considerably.

This compromise of bonfires is the latest trick..............

Wow. A dire situation. The children have been left without supervision for too long. Things are getting worse as the years go by. Eventually the adults will have to put a stop to the events. There will be kicking and screaming and tantrums, but it will only get harder the longer it is allowed to continue. The Town will have to be ready for the fight. If they keep running from the inevitable, they will never get control and disaster is bound to strike.

I agree with what Shane has said and what Gerrit tells us is off the wall. They would all be locked up, set to court, jailed for most of what they did from maybe 30 days to 2 years less a day. (that makes it a lesser crime and you don't go to Federal Prison or Maximum Security jails. Some will get longer than that, usually the instigators.

Not sure if Shane knows about the riots in Vancouver a number if years ago over a hockey game finals with the Vancouver Canucks but they burned and looted many down town businesses. Burned and flipped over cars and police cars. All the cops were in riot gear. There were cameras on the streets and also such high resolution ones that you can see the people faces who were 5 or 6 block away, just zoom in. Takes a long time to load and not sure if I have it any more. It was well over a year before they identified all the instigators and charged them Many were seen my their bosses on the high resolution photos and lost their jobs. A lot of them were US citizens and that info was turned over the the US authorities.. Some were given large jail time, paid fines, lost drivers licenses and had to do hundreds of hours community service, like 200 plus hours in some cases. \

Shane is also correct in that kids today have no suprervison at home as both parents are working to keep all the house together. Go back to husband works and wife stays home. I don't care who has what role. My son's buddy in grade school had a mother and father who both were nurses. She, the wife, was an OR nurse, he was not so she went back to work and he was a stay at home husband and raised the kids. If more did this the world would be a nicer kinder more level headed world, IMHO

That would be impossible for an avalache of reasons. Mind you I am not saying that your idea is wrong, it just does not work that way (anymore).
The major part of the problem is the fact that present day houshold economies are practically all based upon a double income. Take one income away and that micro economy will collapse and it will drag the macro economy down as well. Who is gonna pay for the prices we pay in the supermarkets, the car(s), the scholing of the kids, and the ever rising bills for the climate 'change'. Also the financial and social implications of the mass immigration we are facing. No wonder the people in France are rioting in the whole of the country. I do not like this violence, but I do understand why. That spineless EU adept Macron wears a big pair of trousers (big mouth) internationally, but cannot control his own back garden.
I don't know how it is stands in Canada but since we have this liberal coalition in this country the taxes and levies have gone up no holds barred. The VAT on groceries etc. up by 3% as off January first 2019. The VAT on 'luxury' goods risen from 19 to 21% and further increases have been announced. House rents have gone up considerably, levies on tobacco, alcohol and gas again up this year.
The electricty and gas bill for 2019 up (in some cases by 50%, I kid you not). The 'clean air' taxes on these bills now 60% of the total amount, and this is only the beginning. People who have to do with a meagre pension or a single income by a man or woman with an average salary will suffer in one way or another.
Another obstacle for women not working will be the interference of human rights and woman rights movements. Women quota on executive jobs are normal over here, really.
I am of the opnion that a good organized combination of (part time) working by both parents and a decent level of interest in your kids (know what they are doing) could do wonders. But even that is a passed station in many families. Times have changed, a lot has changed, notably common sense.
When I walk the streets of Amsterdam, (being retired) during normal (working/school) day time and see how society is evolving, it can sometimes make you shiver. I have 3 kids and three grandchildren, I honestly fear for their future; the whole system is as rotten as fallen pears. Add to that the imminent threats of the mass immigration (you can stuff three Europes in one African continent and not the other way around) and I am sure that Europe is gradually committing a kind of suicide.
What is happening overhere at new year's eve is nothing new, it only gets worse by the year. And it is not limited to this period alone. For example, the King's birthday and other big events. Nothing will go without drinking and drugs and vandalism is everywhere. A party is only a party when things go bust.
The fact that all kinds of immigrant ghettos are to be found in the big cities (all over Europe) have resulted in several parrallel societies that will never merge. Some of these ghetto's are gradually turning in no-go area's like those in the suburs of Paris, Brussels or the whole of Sweden.
The decisions made by the people who govern us are not based on reality but based on being against someone or something. They very well know they are steering the ship into the direction of the cliffs but turning to the other way would mean you agree with the 'enemy', and that is not done, even if it is wiser. To be a model EU citizen all you have to do or be are these four things: love Merkel, be anti Trump, be anti Putin and be against Brexit, no more is required. Do not look any further just follow this rule and you'll be fine; switch off your brain and let the unelected people in Brussels lead the way.
Am I negative or pessimistic, no, never, this is reality.

I know exactly what you are talking about and it is horrific. Unchecked immigration will tear down Europe if nothing is done about it. I am not talking of mass exporting them back home but that is one way. A complete revamping of the World economy needs to be done, similar to what happend in New Zealand a few decades ago. Took their dollar and made it worth 10 cents. Devalue by 90%. That put them back on the world economic stage and made it possible to borrow and pay back debts. I don't pretend to know how it was done but they seem fine now. I am sure they have their problems too but not like Europe.
Don't get me started on the Trump affect here in NA. Disgusting what he has done. The USA and therefore Canada and Britain and Australia are all drawn down on the world stage due to his efforts at diplomacy. Talk of him as deal maker is bunk. He could not fight his way out of a wet paper bag if his life depended on it. I have kept quiet about him and what he is doing but no longer. He is pulling the USA down and the rest of the US allies along with him and they don't trust him anymore. He gave secrets of Britain and Israel to the Russians when he had them in the oval office right after his inauguration. Just look what he wants to do with Afghanistan and Syria. Pull out like the past presidents did and give it over to Isis or worse. The sooner he is out, the better.. Same for Putin and Kim Jon Un. I think there are those that have the right solution but no one will listen to them. Don't know where we are headed but it is safer here in Canada. Move over here guys and bring your toys with you. You would be very very welcome. Now we have to get rid of Trudeau and all will be well or as well as it will get. LOL

Well Jim, we have two Trudeau clones overhere, one Jesse Klaver from the Green Left party, (to me an undercover criminal organization with communist roots) and the other Rob (robot) Jetten, a baby face millenial nitwit from the Democrats '66 party. The party which is an arrogant, elit club of anti democrats.

Is it true that Trudeau won the elections in 2015 because of this:
www afbeeldingen
This is that Syrian boy who drowned and was found on a Turkish beach (the Asian part of Turkey, not the European). When this picture was published all over the world, the leaders in Europe called it the biggest shame on Europe, that is quite strange, as the boy was found dead in Asia.
The parents of this boy fled from Syria because of the war and were given asylum in Turkey. They had a proper roof above their heads, the father had a job and they may not have been very happy, but at least they were safe over there and had a good basis to sustain. After 18 months of living in Turkey, the father wanted to emigrate to Canada, he had friends, relatives or family over there and wanted to join them, so the story goes. So he applied for immigration to Canada. That application was denied by Candian authorities, he was safe, there was no priority, all in all he did not qualify for settling in Canada. A second attempt was also denied. Next the father decided to embark on a ship exploited by human traffickers, and paid a substantial amount of money, and a much higher price later on. Apparently he wanted to force his way into Canada via Europe or something.
That ship ran into trouble and the boy drowned. These unwise if not criminal parents survived.
In the end, when it became clear that Canada had denied their immigration it was Trudeau who used the trick of guilt by association to win the ungoing Canadian elections and so he did. Winning elections over the back of a dead boy.
That is the picture I have of this wonderboy Trudeau.
