Last few days I visited Bielefeld in Germany. We booked a tour at the Dr. Oetker factory and as excpected, a few historic cars were there on display

The first one is a 1931 Steyer Type 30, designed by Ferdinand Porsche

Next up is the 1932 Goliath Pioneer

And finally, the good old VW Käfer

All cars are in immaculate condition

Nice to see a 1950's VW. Would be even better if it had the split window of the very early ones or even the no rear window of the 1935 Volkswagon 30. That would be a real treat to see. I have the Greenlight Motor World 1:64 car.

The three prototypes were from 1936

Porsche's  NSU Type 32 was the official predecessor of what was to become known as today's Beetle

I beg to differ, Richard. I looked a bit deeper and 1935 to 1938 was the run. Written up on this site. It is all in German.

Thanks for this post, Luff. I always liked this design even if the car was small.

Books are still a great reference.

Forgot about the Zundapp from 1930. NSU in 1934. The first shape of the 1936 Beetles.

The VW prototypes 1935-38...
the first Volkswagen V1 from the prototype series V3 from 1935...
From V3 and VW 30 remained only photos, a few drawings and a 1: 5 wind tunnel model at the University of Stuttgart from 1937...
The great popular success of this vehicle has led to yet another vehicle, a VW 30 in 1937...
Together with the already restored prototype VW 38 1938 thus has the VW plant through a complete documentation of the first Volkswagen...

Excepts from the article.
