Does anyone know if there is a kind of spring inside the (extending) boom??


The reason I ask is that a friend of my has the vehicle, but the the extending unit is not held in place if he operates it.


I can't find any evidence on the net.

Do you mean the inner extension arm just pulls out and falls off?  No stop on it?  I got mine out of the basement and checked it.  The inner arm has 2 tabs that catch on the outer arm (lower side), so it can't be pulled all the out.

You're welcome.  I could try to put a photo of the underside of the boom - not sure if you could see the tabs though.  If you need it.
