Hi all! I've just joined and planning on sharing my own Siku collection.

I've also took a look at Siku website and noticed one horrifying thing. On the 2018 models list they have such firefighter ladder truck:

(cant seem to add photos yet)

How on earth does this live up to the previous Siku models? It just looks like some cheap chinese model. No support legs, no deck cover, just plain metal. And that stupid cylinder part under the ladder???? That's just awful. What has happened?

Not being a Siku collector, I don't know. I guess your looking for more realism?

Re: Show us your SIKU models. 2 years, 6 months ago #64

Junior Boarder
Indeed. All other Siku models are quite realistic and now they release this. I guess it's one way to keep costs down but it might backfire for them...

With production costs rising an the market dwindling it is not surprising that some brands would scale back to save some money. After all, profit is the name of the game.

The vintage "V" series is what I  collect. Like all manufacturers, the older stuff is the best.

Every toycar manufacturer has a tenendency of choosing who their market is.
We as adults sometimes forget that toys are made for children.
We want manufacturersto recognize that they do improvements on their models.

On the otherhand it is not unusual for Siku to screw up a design.
In the 1970s and 1980s the Lamborghini Espada is too flat and Ferrari GTO has a strange wheelbase to name a few.
Scale on cars vary as well

Also in the past 25 years orso China has produced some excellent realistic models.
Do not slam a country on a stereotype.

Another V

V274 Haller Mullwagen auf Fahrgestell Magirus Garbage Truck sadly missing the yellow garbage container that goes on the back

Here is what the yellow bin looks like. If anyone across the pond (Eur/UK) where Sikus are plentiful ever come across one in of the many sales/meets grab it for me

Great mechanism for emptying, while I gather you are missing the bin that only has tipping capabilities while sitting on pivoting slot at the rear of the tipping body that only has a static display of the hoist mechanism. Well designed for the scale. Impressive I must say. Cheers and thanks for showing.

Yep. Little boys (and girls of course) could pretend to fill the garbage bins in a back alley. When full have the truck back up to it and raise the back. back up a little more and get the arms under the pivot points of the yellow bin. Lower the rear again. Then tilt the yellow bin towards the truck and empty the trash inside. Put the bin back down and drive away to the  dump. The rear can be raised and opened to let out all the collected trash.
