Granted that the Mercedes is a generation or two older than the opel kadett, its fascinating that the Opel kadett is likely to be scale 1/50 and the Mercedes scale 1/64 Matchbox range.

I have always considered Siku to be toys as opposed to models because they had multiple scales, which I believed didn't tally with the usual 43rd and 50th.

I understood the cars to be 50th and trucks 55th the smaller ones I just ignored, no Studebakers you see .

Have fun

Yeah, the scale issue is also the biggest reason that I didn't go completely Siku-crazy as a child. Even then, I already wanted my cars to more or less fit together size-wise.

To be fair, "the others" messed around with the scales too, but the 1/60 used for Siku's cars was just too small to make them blend in. Trucks and vans were closer to what other makers used: my Mercedes 406 ambulance is roughly the same size as e.g. Corgi's Volkswagen T2s, and the Hanomag-Henschel tanker matches Corgi's Bedford TK models... Dinky's TKs were much larger!

So far the only Siku I have;

A later wheels Ford Transit minibus. Was the Polizei version but is missing a door and roof siren. I fitted on the roof and adapted search lamp left over from a Corgi Hunter rally car and stripped and resprayed it. Had to leave the door off sadly but it is better condition than before, paid only 50 pence for it at a toyfair!

I have the orange school bus in the Transit , very nice model although the twin wheel body with single wheels was a bit disappointing when I first bought it but now as an adult I love the model, Dinky never put the wider rear wheel arch on their model so between the two they somehow got it wrong but who cares they are great models of my favourite van.

Great photos and Sikus! With the Ford Transit's they must completely recast the bodyshell for the later version.

Jess - I think, the bodyshell off the first models was broken and the transit had have a faceliftig.
