What kind of ball?

In my latest blogpost on this site, I show a series of diecast cars that represent Mexican taxi's. An example is shown below:

Does anybody have any feedback on the history/story of Gashaball and/or this series in particular? Was it a supermarket that started this series maybe?

The logo in yellow is also on the baseplate, so presumably it is the same company.

Thanks for the link, Drak! I was aware of the link, but it does not really tell us anything on the history. But it seems that is of interest to members here.

I decided to post some pictures, so we can see that the cars are done in many liveries.

VW Transporter (T2C)

Chevrolet Corsa

Nissan Tsuru

VW beetle

Casa Casa-van (CASA was a Mexican bus manufacturer that also made these Pesero-type minibusses on Chevy pickup-base.)

Very shiny finish on them, the casting looks a bit overdone, am I right?

They all got different wheels, that's nice

They look plastic from this side.

Plastic roof and metal body. This might be confusing: The diecast part goes up to the height of the bonnet and from where the windows start it is all plastic. A "nice" way to save money.

JC,
Ik bedoel eigenlijk dat de modellen niet geheel waarheidsgetrouw zijn weergegeven, met name bij de kever en de corsa.

Sorry guys, I found it hard expressing myself in English with what I really meant

The top part of the casts are plastic, which could explain what you tried to say. Indeed, the models are quite a long way off being exact replica's but they're charming nonetheless.
