TOPIC: Marx Diecast

Marx Diecast 2 years ago #1

Platinum Boarder

I managed to complete my set of Marx diecast cars I had as a kid, they came in a set and although these don't have them they had cardboard inserts with the interior printed on, I have pictured my original one with this insert , very play worn but complete. There are a couple of other models including an E-Type Jag

I remember getting them for Christmas in the early seventies.

They may have been known as Mini Marx Juniors

When you find the interiors for the other cars, you can print the yourself. But first you have to find them.

What is the scale for these models? They look a lot like the Tootsie Toys I have but they are 1:87, I think. Very small but with no interiors. They have the same look to the casting and the axles are held in the same way along with the same type of tire. They even have a Abarth similar or the same as the Green one you show above.

They are around Matchbox size or slightly smaller.

Great to see this one & with it's packaging , looks to be very similar to the Hot Wheels packaging of the time.

Thanks Andy. Now with the packaging is it great minds think alike or a manufacturer taking the lead from the market leader?

Matchbox also had similar packaging so it must have been a copycat marketing plan. Everyone is doing it so....
