I must get some more photos done! I have that Marklin Porsche 911 but not in as nice condition, the wheel spokes got surface rusty and I've cleaned them up as best as I could but I was nearly scratching the black plastic wheels. It's missing its rear screen and roof panel.

I also have 2 BMW 2002's, an original orange one and a maroon repro version (from a lovely run of repros they did).

And I have the Audi 100 saloon and Mercedes 220. I love the way all 4 doors open on the 4 door cars.

they dont seem original as in vintage 60's/70's.

Are they recast by another company that now owns the Marklin name? There are many more models in this bare metal  on ebay

Tick:  The silver Fords from epay are painted and from Marklin from the 1990s.  They re-issued RAKs over the years.  These are not bare metal, and 2 other sets of 2 were issued.

I tried to document all the RAKs  (with photos) at  www.hobbydb.com/subjects/rak-series

Hello Volks!

Here was my toy score of the weekend, 1964/65 era production Marklin #8005 Square Window Volkswagen Beetle with original thin profile rubber tires and 97/8% factory  (Elfenbein = Ivory)  finish  still on the toy. (the Square Window version of the #8005 is a uncommon toy, hardest one to find).

Some playwear/flea bites, but I think this toy will clean up very well.

I'll post before and after pix next week.

ENJOY!

Tom

Gold Boarder

Last week I obtained a Märklin "Adenauer"- Mercedes.

It has been repainted black but the inside is still dark blue so I know what colour to spray it next spring to give it back its former appearance.

With four new tyres it will be spic and span then.

In the base plate there are two small holes where, in my opinion, front seats can be rivetted.

My example came without front seats and the base plate looks so clean that I doubt if there ever rivets were fitted.

On the "net" I see these models with the holes in the base plate but with and without seats.

Now I wonder if the Märklin factory issued them originally always with front seats or that they also were delivered without them but with the same base plate with the holes in it.

Were there examples with a different base plate as well?

Is there anyone on Planet Diecast who knows????

Best Regards - Krul.

I'll be looking forward to the resto

The ones I have seen had holes in the base, so that is the only baseplate version I know of.
