At this years local toy collector`s sales show, I stumbled across this 1/43 ish scale by Vilmer (Denmark). I had no Vilmers yet and I just fell in love with it despite the severe paint loss. I have never seen one before. I did some googling and the model is not so rare but apparently the Carlsberg version is ????? Anyways, got for $10 CDN which I dont know if it was a fair price, but I knew I wanted it and did not mind paying the 10 for it

Anyways, lots of character the way it is, so I will leave it. The wheel on the top twists and turns the front wheels to steer the truck. There is a cover for the rear bed that is missing.

And the best deal of the day. Maybe the best I have had in a looooong time.

Some models of no popularity or value what so ever. But, a childhood memory that instantly slapped a smile on my face when I saw them.

This set of 4 1950's era American Cars were released by Universal Associates Co Ltd. Whoever, the hell they are. These toys are about 38 years old (1977). 1/43 scale diecast with plastic bases made in Hong Kong.

I had these four as a child and played with them daily. For whatever reason they were my favorites.  And they lasted despite so much play time. I still have them today but very banged up. These new ones are practically mint. I dont remember them coming in a set but I expect they did otherwise quite the coincidence the seller had the same 4 I did.

Recaptured an almost mint version of a wonderful memory for 5 bucks !!!!!!

No car detail on the bottoms, but the blue one is Ford Thunderbird, the red coupe a Cheverolet Corvette. I believe the green is also a Chev. I have no idea of the orange one. Anyone know these real life models?????

Hello Tick, nice little collection of US Muscle cars you have secured. The Orange car looks like the 1957 Chevrolet 'Bel Air', a very much modelled car by toy and model companies.

'Universal Associates Co Ltd' is a long gone distributing company who marketed toys sourced from various other companies. They would not have had licensing rights to have those car models properly branded as they were intended for gift shop type retail outlets and sold in flat trays.

They are worth saving simply because of the way they are marketed as they do not stay on shop shelves for very long before the marketing is taken over by a new company and they have their name moulded onto the baseplates in a way that 'SM/SUMMER' operates.

Very nice, thank's for showing them on the forum.

I would say, 1957 Thunderbird, 1955 or 56 Chevrolet, 1957 Chevrolet Bel Aire and a 1956 Corvette. Nice finds and great to relive toys of the past you had and played with so much.

Love the Vilmer - I think they must have sold those 'Dodge trucks' in the US because I picked up a bunch of them years ago around Chicago.   Not the Carlsberg though - I found mine in London 20 years ago!

[Tekno Tekno Vilmer Vilmer Tekno]

Some people confuse with Tekno but this size is small

Another childhood memory !!!!!!

As a child, my grandparents took me and my sister on road trips into the USA. We always stayed at Howard Johnson's hotels (Ho Jo). They were the staple for roadside comfort and quality for a reasonable price. My grandfather would stay no where else. I believe they had almost 1000 locations across Canada and the USA. They are still around today but in few numbers and not the same empire from back then. They were so large they in housed their own trucking and product.

Winross, an American diecast manufacturer, made and still makes, wonderful scaled and detailed models. They are only sold as commissioned by their clients. They do no sell their models commercially at a retail level. They supply clients with trucks and then their client distributes as per their needs. Their models are well built and solid.

Ho Jo, had gift shops in their hotels and sold various versions of their actual trucks made by Winross. My grandfather bought me one of their ice cream transports. It is long gone but I just got this exact model (missing one rear door) off ebay. It is about 8" long

I love that this hobby of mine re-finds childhood memories.

Here is a picture of the model and a picture of the other Ho Jo models they did. You can search Winross and see the vast product line have/had.

Surprisingly 'WINROSS' are quite well known in the UK, having been brought to our attention in the early 1970's through limited retail (all retail stopped in 1978), so I personally have been aware of them since the mid 1970's and yes, they were specialists in the promotional model sector of the market, those coming to the UK were such models.

It is good that you have now obtained a model that brings back precious Childhood memories, It is one part of collecting that we all enjoy!

Thank's for the story and posting the pictures of your Truck.

Thanks for showing Tick and I remember the Howard Johnson restaurants when we as a family traved back in the late 1950's and through the late 1960's. Would eat there often but usually stayed at Best Westerns. I still stay at them when I travel when I can.
Those were and still are great trucks and I have seen them at local Husky stations here in BC from time to time.

While at a vintage and other stuff show this weekend I managed to replace my childhood Britain's 120mm Anti Tank Field Gun. A great childhood memory given to me by a great uncle. I still have it along with the Land Rover it came with but the shield is long gone. This one restores my set. For $10 Canadian bucks

Just got this Budgie No. 292 Leyland Bulk Milk Tanker. Very nice shape and although decals are damaged they are intact.

I only have one other Budgie (Bedford Tipper - "Ham River Grit") I don't go looking for them but will make room for more for a reasonable price. Very sturdy construction and I like the size of them (in between a Dinky and Hot Wheel) about 4"

This is a first for me, never sen this tanker.
I really like Budgie Toys, got a few Routemasters made by Budgie. They are crude and cute!Is the back of the tank broken?
