Seeing Nobleco's comment on the fastener , I had these thoughts whilst driving to work this morning , plastic won't scratch the paint, we must have had the same brain wave

I made a door catch , it is out of plastic & not metal but I have looked at an original & had a go at it , I have weathered it to look like metal. If you look to the o/s rear wheel you will see I have put the switch back to where it should be.
