I'd really like to help you but I would need the pictures in large size.

If the box is semi gloss along with the inner display stand then it's original if it's totally matt then it's a fake

I do agree. But I would like to see larger pictures to be sure and talk about it.

Don't forget that the original boxes where machine made and not by hand as most repro boxes are and the images and text are printed directly onto the card (the gloss side) and not printed on a separate part and stuck on like repro boxes

Early Gift sets, and first Corgi Major toys had such box types. With printed paper applied on card boxes.

The quality and printing of the boxes had got better by 1965

It is always difficult trying to identify something in pictures, unless those pictures have been taken on professional equipment by people who know how to use that equipment.

I do have some observations about the box in the above pictures...

Now obviously you can not go by what I have outlined here, you really need to see the box...'In Hand' to be able to decide exactly what it is and one of the best tests is to sniff the box inside and out, as this will give you some old musty type smell that again is very difficult to reproduce, good luck, my fingers are crossed for you.

Thank you very much for the observations.

Now that I see those folds at the bottom of the plinth I'm leaning towards original.

Also, if this is an early box and the quality of the print did improve later then that would explain away some doubts.

Corky, I've sent an email with the link to the Ebay listing.

Actually, I've just received a message from the seller assuring me that it is an original box with one owner.

If I go ahead and it arrives then I'll certainly add some images.

Fingers crossed.

I hope you win it, I won't bid

I hope this turns out well for you.

I have made A £29 mistake previously on a Bond DB5 and the box that was in was a repro. It was advertised as all original and I thought I got a steal. Managed to get back £20 from the sale of it and it was shipped down under, so is now in Australia.

Thanks guys.

I was the highest bidder at $81 but I was so unsure if the box was original that I wanted to check here first before I sent the payment through.

I placed a bid without much thought assuming an original box and therefore that I wasn't going to win. But woke up the next morning with a surprise and a dilemma.

The sellers feedback rating is 2 and check out these blurry photos in the listing.

Anyway, I sent the payment, mostly just to satisfy my curiosity.

I guess I'll find out one way or another when it arrives.

Glad you won it. Hopefully it turns out alright and did not burn your selve.
