In my experience, you can not re wind a spring steel item. It has been heat treated (I think) and will break. Some springs are just wound metal so may work but I would practice first on a smaller spring to avoid breaking the one you want to use.
I think Theo is refering to the outside diameter of the spring, not the inside for going over the pins you show.

Unless the pictures might give a different image: It is indeed a tiny little spring - the total outer diameter is around 2 mm.

While using a 5mm one could work by modifying it's end to a smaller diameter, it would fail to pass the guide pin, located in the center of the spring length.

Regarding the habit of a spring, I am fully with you.

Maybe worthwhile to lookout for a tiny plastic tube?

if you look for a stapler, look for a full strip one, that can load the most staples and normally has the longest spring.
(well at least the ones I sell have )

Looks very promising I have to say - but might fail in regards to the diameter.

Has to be able to slide trough a guide pin with maximum 2.5 mm diameter.

Will keep my eyes open  - many thanks to all the tips and recommendations here in that forum, highly appreciated!

Is that the spring that drives those Matchbox cars around the track Frame.

Got a second one which is lacking the saw itselves as well.

Any ideas, what I could convert into such a saw disc?
