Very interesting stuff regarding the aircraft, not something I know a great deal about as I don't collect diecast planes but they certainly made some very nice and collectible ones.

A nice combination of two Sahara oil exploration trucks below, the French Dinky Toys nos. 888 Camion petrolier saharien 'GBO' Berliet (1960-1968) and 39b/893 Tracteur Unic et semi-remorque saharien (1959-1970). They would have made a wonderful presentation set.

Not to mention the fantastic play value in a set like this. I can see my Trans-continental pipe line crossing my sand box now.

An 'impossible' combination. The Dinky Toys Bedford Articulated Lorry of 1948 and its brother that never was, the Bedford Articulated Streamlined Petrol Tanker, planned in 1947. Kind regards, Jan

Jan. Is the tanker the prototype or a simulation of what was intended to be in 1947.

Re: Nice combinations 4 years ago #563

Platinum Boarder
Jim, this is just a simulation, a resin kit of the semi-trailer only.

Here it is, bare, unpainted, in the midst of my own creations.

And here it is, complete and painted, sitting on the original factory design drawings.

And this is thought to be the tractor of the original mock-up, auctioned by Christie's South Kensington in September 1996. No semi-trailer known up till now! Kind regards, Jan

They are a nice looking truck and Dinky should have made one as it would have sold well. It was nice to see these when I was there.

Thanks Jan I always like your Dinky collection and history expressed so elegantly.
