As we all know, the above mentioned topic disappeared while answering a post some months ago. Unfortunately, the tech guys didn't react on my and Nobleco's emails and messages, so I decided to start this topic again. The original idea came from our well respected member Jan Werner.

In the early post-war decades the French were searching for and exploring oil fields in the North of Africa. For the heavy-duty work involved they used the huge Berliet 6x6 GBO truck, which was introduced in 1958. The 300 hp engine could move a weight of 40 tons with a speed of 40 km/h. Provided with a derrick (chèvre) it was of great help in hoisting and assembling the oil pipe lines. The white roof and air-conditioning equipment on top were of help keeping working conditions bearable.
The big and heavy French Dinky Supertoys model - no. 888 Camion pétrolier saharien "GBO" Berliet - was available in the period 1960-1968.

That particular kiosk is the Series 6 introduced in 1936 and made of cast iron.

Dinky Toys no. 60w 'Clipper III' Flying Boat (1938-1941), the 1/192 scale model of the PanAmerican Clipper III, the Sikorsky S-42-B, introduced in the mid-1930s. The legend below tells more about the real-world prototype (as does the box-lid text).
