I love that you can see the layers of color. cut the right way and it could be art work. I don't get that thick as I don't spray down like you do. I am up on stands with the cars and spray across so I get more on the wall than the table. Hey, now you need more tooth picks and can start over.

I have restored this Escort RS2000 for my Godson's new baby son, it was a hand down from either his dad or uncle when he was small & he was surprised that it could be made new again, although I made a slight mistake of putting the decal on the roof the wrong way quickly rectified when I put it next to the one from my collection.
I will post more pictures when I can it is getting quite annoying when something is not working properly

I carried on with some more Fords today, these Capris came , I got a couple of repro bonnets and painted them to the more or less original colours , I could not get a mauve to match so did it in the orange they came in and also the pinks , the darker pink is more or less the same shade as they were the light pink is how I remember them not sure if they faded to this shade but both two of theses showed the original pink under the bonnet.

Nicely done and I like the colors. I can remember seeing Capri's like this in the orange with black hood way back when in the Late 1960's

I found an easy way to put the silver on the wheels , spray the paint a flat piece of card , then put your thumb and finger on the back of wheel so as the axles pulls back then quickly put the wheel on the paint , the centre hub sticks out so it prints straight on , clean any access off the tyre part after.

Yes, you need a steady hand for that method. Good suggestion.

I got a bargain this week a near mint boxed Rolls Royce Silver shadow convertible , should be Corniche, another Matchbox toy that reminds of my child hood.

Very nice but they could have picked a better color plastic for the tow hook.

Re: Matchbox car case. 1 month, 3 weeks ago #119

Platinum Boarder
the trouble is that with later Matchbox cars the tow hook was part of the interior .

This is a lovely model and introduced while the real Silver Shadow 2 door coupe was still in production.

Matchbox were not known for retooling their models into a later version which is a shame because the real Silver Shadow became Corniche in 1971 and the Matchbox model was kept in production until 1973 so they could have converted it to a Corniche.
