The image below has been taken from 1970 Matchbox catalogue showing the impressive K-15 Merryweather Fire Engine complete with gold bells on the cab roof and ladder control panel situated on the turntable at the rear. The elevating ladder is made of  diecast, while the inner extension ladder is plastic and came in gray or silver. The main cab and body has a matallic red finish, black chassis with clear or amber windows. There were five releases first was red plastic hubs and hard black plastic tyres. The other four had the Super King wheels. The first eddition was released onto the Toy Market in 1964 Made in England by Lesney until 1973 when the K-9 futuristic Fire Tender came onto the Market.

Ladder still works Ok for its years.

Below is the M-X which was the last of the Merryweather and was released onto the market in a box set of the same year as the K-9 Fire Tender.

The Merryweather had a life span of about ten years production.

The K-9 Firer Tender has a red body with silver elevating ladder made of diecast and has either a gray or black plastic extension ladder. The windows are usually amba while one issue had clear plastic windows. Side labels have Denver Fire Dept chrome interior, engine, sirens, flood lights.

Below image was taken from the 1973 Matchbox catalogue release date of the same year.

Below is my old beater needs the extension ladder.

There are four renditions of this model although there was some changes in the 1983 release going by that catalogue compared with an early rendition.

Notice some of the differences between the two.

The K 9 Firer Tender also had a life span of about ten years in production.

One of my latest buys from the USA good stuff.

My old K 39-B Simon Snorkel Fire Engine Made in China has now its mate the Macua issue by Universal Matchbox. The next might just be the English version. Like one day at a time me think.

So lets take it out of its box for a look see.

There is no engineering changes between the two diecasts apart from changing the name of manufacture to Made in China from Macau.

K 39-B Simon Snorkel Fire Engine 1980 made in England and was still being produced by Tyco in the early 1990's in China as the page taken from the 1992 catalogue. Tyco changed most of the numbering systems around during this production period just to confuse us I think.

Impresive artwork backing on the diorama front cover of the catalogue of that year for the release onto the toy market with the K 39-B Simon Snorkel.

The main colour is red all over the body and base, while the interior is black. The windows are either amber or dark blue windows that restrict any look in see if the interior is there at all. Dome lights, silver painted or raw diecast colour siren, Plastic red or black supports and white lift section arms with 2 red knobs and 2 red ladders. Silver or diecast colour turntable lift platform, black Simon Snorkel written on the main top lifting arm. Country Fire Department labels and 4 dark blue fireman. Some of the early firemen were made of lead and not plastic is all I can add to some of the Simon Snorkel.
