Any idea how to bring back a nice whiteness on age related plastic?

I'm sure I have heard something about baking soda, but  can anyone confirm for me the best method/s?

All I have ever heard is bleaching them in direct sunlight.

thought the sun was the one that baked the all white into yellow to begin with

Had a nice since new Matchbox Super Kings Iveco truck with Porsche racing trailer and a couple Porsche 959 where the sun had baked the pristine white into yellow.
A couple years ago found a playworn trailer and performed a chassis swap. It was not as nice as my original unplayed one, but it was cleaner.

I know it takes the yellowing off decals, don't know about plastic but assumed it would do the same. Maybe I am wrong. Paint will work to cover the yellowed parts.

Yes, you can paint the plastic parts.

I painted the plastic parts of the Corgi Chipperfileds Circus horse trailer and parade vehicle.
