I've been a scale model collector for 30 years now, with the focus on Alfa Romeo miniatures. The first years I collected 'all colors' until I realized varying colors was a way for the manufacturers to enlarge their production and sales. So I stopped collecting this way and from then on I bought only one color of each model.
Then I ran into the tinned Track Stars models, scale 1/64 (approx.) in all kinds of liveries. The itch to have them all started and never went away. When will I have a complete collection? I don't know. It's not easy to find out what has been marketed. But that's part of the fun.
Originally the cars (made in China) came from Australia. They have been marketed in Europe (Simba Toys) and the US (Hasbro) as well. The blister packages vary. The three Track Stars touring car models (Mercedes C-class, Opel Calibra and Alfa Romeo V6 TI) that were available in the little tins in matching colors and design were all cars which originals participated in the DTM / ITC championship. The sponsor liveries were fantasy, most of the names coming from the automotive sector. There were also three liveries marketed as merchandise from the Australian Channel 10 television network.
Some models (at least the Alfa) appeared on the market under names as 'Action City by Realtoys', Edocar (Dutch) and Fastlane.
If anyone can provide more information, please let me know.
I know it's not the best quality video, shot with simple picture camera. But I hope you will enjoy my first home-edited movie ;-), just made for fun.
