I added two Power Functions motors to the recently released VW Lego set. A medium motor runs the steering, an XL motor drives the rear wheels through a differential. The battery is located right behind the rear seats. The IR receiver module is on the back seat. This was the only possible location due to the motors' short wires and the (current) lack of extension cables.

Seeing this video inspired me to try and buy the Lego Sculpture VW Beetle.
It was never imported to New Zealand, but I've been a longtime member of Bricklink. Still a very pricey model, but well worth the wait. However, mine doesn't have the electric motors like the one in the video.
