Toy Photography
Technical Set-up |
Nikon D200 DSLR with a Nikon 105mm VR Macro lens mounted on a Manfrotto tripod. All the photos were taken outside in natural light. I use small aperatures such as f32 to maintain depth of field. |
With these shots I have tried to make the model vehicle as realistic as possible. Post processing is limited to cropping and cleaning the images.
The models I have selected are all 1:43rd scale.

Good mix
Your photos grabbed my attention. Nice work. It was so difficult to rate them since I found the VWs your best and the others not as good (still good, just not as good). I love shooting toys and you've done a good job here.
One thing I'd like to see is your letting go of the collecting side of the toy hobby when shooting them. You've chosen great subjects but they're far too clean. Three off road vehicles that are shining brightly; I'd love to have seen them in their natural, dirty environments.
Those two VWs are fantastic shots especially considering their scale. I appreciate your efforts to maintain a greater depth of field - something commercial photographers struggle with when shooting cars. The lighting on all of the models is great, but both VWs are best.
Keep shooting. Great stuff!
