Australian Light Armoured Vehicle
The US MC LAV 25 Piranha conversion includes a spare wheel that is mounted on the rear of the main body that the Australian Army use in-case the tires chop out in the Australian rugged outback.
Camouflage colour used by Australian Army.
The ASLAV is and all-terrain amphibious vehicle with night capabilities by night scopes. The Hull is made of plate armor and the tires are low pressure bullet proof type. Powered by 6v53t turbine pressure boost diesel engine with the maxim speed of 100 km per hour. Has a crew of 3 and 6 combat troops.
I made the spare wheel and frame out of bits of anything lying around. The tire is from a Corgi I think cut to size. The hub is from some junk toy truck and the frame is from some plastic spew and little bits from a umbrella. This enable for the spare wheel to fold down for changing spare tire. Only one door is operative with this mechanism which was fitted to type 2. The type 3 now has the spare bolted to the door with stronger hinges replacing the old ones.
This was my first go at using the new air brush and compressor that Santa gave me.
The kit itself is just like any that comes out of China. The instruction sheet is just average and sometimes it is more guess work than accuracy as I don't understand them. They used to have highlighted images in a circle for those very small items to be fitted. Oh well it was only a $5 kit anyway some 10 years ago.
I had some trouble trying to fit the inside motor and gear mechanism cover on as I had soldered the terminals on the motor without folding them down so had to unsolder them and start again.
There is a gap between the front glacier plate and the upper hull as this model does come apart and is held by a screw to keep it together. Just in-case the gear jams up again.
Your work is awsome.
I have model to, but I have to remplace rear doors panel of LAV-25 (it's same for LAV-AT )and tires.
