This particular Hoveringham 8 wheel Foden Tipper was in a sad state of repair.

First off was to strip the vehical down and remove all the paint. Clean rust off the axles and clean up the tires and plastic windscreen insert. De-oxidized the metal surface and etch prime the metal. Followed by base primer then three coats of top auto paint and let dry for a week. Next was the assembly of all the parts. Peening the end‚  of‚  each axle after fitting the hubs back on and fitted to the body of the truck. (Peening is where one burrs over the end so the wheels will not come off, similar to the clenching off the ends on very early toy vehicles). Two small springs fitted onto a plastic plug which replaced the broken suspension mechanism on the front axle and extreme rear.‚   Then replacing the windscreen and air-horn into the front cab. Next was the rear tipping body and host mechanism and peening the ends of the attachment rods. Finishing touches silver trim was done by a shaky hand with a very fine brush.

Auto shake rattle spray cans was used on the repainting process. Home made decals using Microsoft Paint and ordinary ink jet printer.

A classic tipper in a poor state is brought back to life by superb workmanship.

It is a shame that the images are posted out of sequence as this creates at first some confusion.

However, the result from the restoration is first rate.
