I don't know why we don't see more Harry Potter MOCs. It's a rich fictional world with a lot of great subjects, and the now-defunct official theme gave us appropriate figs, so non-customizers can easily get into the subject. Old LEGO Technic stuff, at the service of humor and most genius criminals...

The Olsen Gang (Danish: Olsen-banden, Norwegian: Olsenbanden, German: Die Olsenbande) is an original Danish criminal gang in the fictional movies of the same name. The gang's leader is the criminal genius and habitual offender Egon Olsen. The other members of the gang are Benny and Kjeld. The gang members are harmless and never use violence.



This is an excerpt from the 11th movie "Olsen-banden overgiver sig aldrig" or "The Olsen Gang never surrenders", from 1979 in the Danish original, or 1981 in the Norwegian version.


Most of the movies start with Egon coming out of jail and being enthusiastically welcomed by Benny and Kjeld. Egon will inform his friends of his latest plan for making them all millionaires and instructs them to provide the necessary equipment. The plans usually feature everyday artifacts such as LEGO or any other household items, which are combined to work like Rube Goldberg machines. And this is exactly where another relation with LEGO comes to my mind, because of the contraptions developed in most GBC modules, also inspired on the same Rube Goldberg machines concept.
In the end Egon €“ after having succeeded with a genius plan €“ loses because he underestimates the power of other unscrupulous criminals, with whom the Olsen Gang usually gets involved somehow...

As much as we love things with guns, and things that make others things go boom, it's nice to see a
builder return to the true roots of spacey science fiction. Exploration, and the expansion of humanity into the final frontier.

This pirate ship by Barney Main (SlyOwl) uses custom sails and ropes to great effect. Don’t forget to take a look at the details on deck and the ornate patterns of the ship in this picture.

It seems that LEGO collections across Europe have been very busy lately. The more I look the more detail I see. I particurly like the climbing plants, the large lamps and the colour scheme. Fantastic andybear.

This vignette by Larry Lars is full of knobs, lever, sliders and all sorts of control devices. The use of levers in grill tiles to make sliders is an ingenious technique, something I’ll have to steal for an upcoming creation.

This diorama by Darth Yoda depicts a classic WWII scene done to good effect with just the right amount of rubble and mayhem. The transparent bricks gradient for the waves washing over the beach is pretty neat.

When I started building this stuff, I wasn’t sure what to call it. It’s certainly flattering to see other people build in this style, though, especially when the creations are as good as this one.
