Leaked Transformers 3 Movie Script? (Updated)

Categories // Action Figures, Transformers Live Action Movie, Syndicated Blogs

The Allspark has received a copy of what is labeled as a draft script for Transformers 3 by Ehren Kruger, finished on November 24th, 2009. Considering that last leaked script for Transformers 2 was fake, I am not holding my breath this is the real thing. Actually the script itself indicates it is fake with way to many fan boy references, reformatting of most of the characters (which would make creating brand new CGI models for everyone, not a cheap task), and more. Feel free to read and determine for yourself the validity of it. TF3 logo image from Scorpio.

Leaked Transformers 3 Draft | mirror

Update 2: Nelson, Michael Bay's site admin, posted "Their is a script out there being reported on TF sites as being legit. It's fake. Amazing that someone would take so much time to write so much for nothing." Thanks to Dudelsack for the link.

Update 1: Here is a more detailed description and analysis now that I have had time to do more than just skim the script.

The script is essentially a love letter to the history of Transformers. There is a jump to the past so some characters both new and old can get a makeover in their more famous alt modes. In some cases there are literal re-creations of moments from the generation one cartoon series (especially "More Than Meets the Eyes") and Transformers: The Movie. Most of the new characters are classic G1 with Percepter, Laserbeak, Mirage, Hound, Thundercracker and many more. The script has some rather clever ideas and plot twists such as given Prime a trailer using Mirage's holographic technology, the introduction of a new plot McGuffin with the Key to Vector Sigma and retroactively correcting many of the plot wholes from the first movie. The final act has a moment to up the Devastator ante with Superion vs. Bruticus while having Prime and Megatron once again go at it, with Soundwave joining the battle with his mini-friends (Ravage, Rumble, and co). The final scenes make for an excellent cliffhanger moment. It was an enjoyable read that gave me some warm and fuzzies as I recognized many of the moments from my childhood love of Transformers.

Having said that, all that is also the very reason this script is NOT the real deal. Michael Bay has made it clear he doesn't really like doing homages, limiting it as much as possible while this script is just thick with it. The ideas, while huge and interesting, have rather long sequences (including a space fight) being pure CGI and for most scenes the Transformers are almost constantly in robot mode. Part of the reason for the emphasis on human interactions, human technology and the vehicle alt modes is it saves on the budget. The final pages, with the cliffhanger, also breaks a Bay rule of keeping movies contained to itself.

Finally, this script doesn't have that "emotional hook" that Bay, the writers, etc loved harping on (in a silly attempt to elevate their work to more than it really is but whatever works I guess). For the first movie it was a boy and his first car, the second was boy becomes man as he accepts his responsibilities, and this one has a brief moment where Sam and Michaela become engaged but nothing else really.

Overall, I was entertained by the script and would not mind this being the real deal. Sadly that is not the case. Maybe IDW can do an "Elseworlds" type thing with in it comic book form. There was clearly a lot of thought put into this so thanks to the writer for putting together an enjoyable read.

Another installment with more galleries, toys and a custom 7 foot Prime for sale.

Custom Optimus Prime 7ft Statue (mirror)
From EBay Australia is this rather sweet looking fan made statue of Prime in movie form. The work is the result of around $10,000 in parts, 75 days of label, and a whole lot of scrap metal. The weight is estimated around 450-559kg (992-1213lbs). Click the link to read a lot more about the project. The "buy it now" price currently at AU $47k with no bids. Click here for the auction. Thanks to Katie for the link.

Click the link for a look at the nest wave of NEST toys for Revenge of the Fallen coming out early next year. The images include Brawn, Lockdown, Ratchet, and combined Skystalker and Mindwipe (vehicle mode only).

Shadow Command Megatron & Strike Mission Sideswipe in Packages

Buster Prime & Jetfire 2-Pack
Asian only release, this leader class two pack features the improved version of Optimus Prime with Jetfire who is also featuring a new paint job with a black, brown and dark gray scheme. Still no indications if Buster Prime will make a Stateside or European release.

Official Images of 2010 Legends and Deluxes
Click for sizeable gallery of the next wave of Legends, Deluxe and HA Barricade that is coming early next year. It€™s basically two images per, one for package, one for alt mode. Toys & Games by Variety Product Sales

Categories // Action Figures, Plaidstallions, Syndicated Blogs

I had an epic day last Wednesday, what I thought would be a boring trip to a storage unit turned out to be an amazing discovery! When I found the records and remnants of my father's 1970s toy distribution business including these funky signs he used to use. I have been looking for one of these for years.

My dad's company provided toys and novelties to smaller chain stores (especially Mac's Milk locations) across Ontario and provided them with mostly rack toys and closeouts. While I haven't unearthed any physical toys (yet), I sure have some groovy artifacts in the many invoices and pay ables he had, VPS dealt with all the big names and carried all the Brands, Mego, AHI, Larami, Barton, Aurora, Parker Brothers, it's pretty extensive, here are a couple of examples:

This cool invoice from Grand Toys (distributor for Azrak Hamway and later Mego) shows an order of 576 Batman parachute figure figures, I'm salivating, I don't own one now! Looking at how much AHI Superhero stuff VPS carried, it's not surprising I'm totally obsessed with it now.

This invoice from Aurora shows a big order for the classic comic scenes kits, these are really happy memories for me. I remember putting every single one of these together as a kid and playing with them as if they were action figures.

I've gots tons of this stuff and I've never been happier to go through a pile of boring old company records before!

Transformers: War for Cybertron Teaser Trailer (Updated)

Categories // Action Figures, Transformers Live Action Movie, Syndicated Blogs

GameTrailers.com has officially and exclusively released the teaser trailer for Transformers: War for Cybertron to go with the leaked art from the other day. The trailer shows lots of quick shots of a cinematic with teasers of various characters like Optimus Prime and Omega Supreme, all redesigned but clearly inspired by their original Generation One counterparts.

I assume this game is set at some point during "The Great War" that first pits the Autobots against the Decepticons in a long lasting civil war that eventually reaches Earth as indicated in the various cartoons, comics and movies. Also the official website, TransformersGames.com, has been updated to reflect the new game with a countdown clock in the Cybertronian language and a link to sign up for "future transmissions."

The game's release date is to be determined, the platforms are PS3, XBox 360, and PC. Below is the video or click here for the embiggened version.

Update: Click here for nearly a frame by frame gallary of images from the trailer.

DiD WWII 2nd Ranger Marksman "Private Daniel"

Categories // Action Figures, Little Plastic Man, Syndicated Blogs

Don't you just love companies like Loading toys, Heroic, DiD and Brother Production, which give us 12" figures based on movie characters but without the hefty price tag due to the extra cost in movie licenses (think Hot Toys).
I do have to admit that there are misses like Brother Production Zombie Killer but there are also hits like Heroic Professional Killer & Loading Toys Dangerous Man.
Another hit (to me at least) is DiD 2nd Ranger Marksman "Private Daniel". Even though DiD did not credit this figure to the movie Saving Private Ryan, I guess it is an open secret that this figure was representing Private Daniel Jackson , the "praying" sharpshooter in the movie (Heck they even named the figure Private Daniel!).
Private Daniel Jackson was played by Barry Pepper in the movie.

I also have Dragon's US Army 2nd Ranger Battalion Captain Miller but with an updated head sculpt and body from Soldier Story 2nd Ranger Infantry Battalion to better represent Captain James Miller. Of course the uniform and accessories are not of the same standard as DiD.

DiD has done a great job in the area of the head sculpt and accessories. The head sculpt is spot on in the likeness of Barry Pepper. I heard that DiD managed to get the consent from the actor to use his likeness (well that's just what I heard).

There is a number of accessories that come with the figure and this is quite expected from DiD based on their past offering. However what is great is that the majority of the accessories are the equipments used by Private Daniel in the movie, like the M1903A4 rifle, Sniper Scope Tube and the cross and ID tag he kissed. On top of that, the accessories and uniform are pretty well made. However putting the accessories onto the figure was a nightmare and I had great difficulties getting the water canteen, holster and first aid pouch onto the Garand Ammo Belt. I even broke the hooks on the Water Canteen pouch and holster! In the end I used strings to attach them onto the belt.
After consulting with Alex the 12" guru, I found out that I was doing it wrongly and I was supposed to attach the items to the assault vest via the holes made for that purpose!
After going through all the hard work getting the equipments and accessories on, I have decided to leave it on! Hence there will be no photos on the individual equipment and accessory. But not to disappoint, you can hop over to Alex's review which is power and much more detailed!

I have been hoping and praying for so long for some company to do characters from Saving Private Ryan! Even though the figure is not credited to the movie, this offering from DiD is good enough for me! Great sculpt, accessories and a nice price tag! What more can you ask for.
Overall, a must get for any WW2 toy collector!

Transformers: The War for Cybertron Video Game First Look

Categories // Action Figures, Transformers Live Action Movie, Syndicated Blogs

Activision has released new art to Game Informers announcing a new video game from the company for the Transformers franchise. This game, which is being created by High Moon Studios (Darkwatch, Bourne Conspiracy), is called Transformers: The War for Cybertron, appears to take place in the Generation One sandbox. No further details have been released beyond the images and the studio, but judging from those this appears to be the first game that I can remember that appears to take place in the Generation One universe (rather than movies or other recent cartoons) and on Cybertron.

It appears that some of the designs might have been inspired by Don Figueroa's art for Transformers: The War Within comic books series from Dreamwave back in 2002 with a mix of other more recent concepts like the Classic line. Below are some images, click here for the full gallery.

This was the LEGO I've been eyeing on since it's first launched in August.
To me, I find the price is slightly on the high side in Singapore for a Star Wars LEGO playset of this approx. size.
The price factor was what caused me to hold back getting this...
Anyway, since I've already brought it now, no use heartpain anymore!
Must think only of the good side!
I've yet seen the actual model of this LEGO set on display but the box art has already captured my heart. The AT-TE walker looked solid!
Apart from the AT-TE walker, I also find LEGO to have included Jabba's son - Rotta figure to be a great suprised. It's really cute.

I've posted 4 different posts on my blog today
Which was the first time I've ever posted this much.
I've also finished updating all my stars wars collectibles, Pixars Cars, Thomas the Train, Tin Toys ...etc. yesterday.
It was very tiring but I can only blame myself for being lazy and not updating it for about 1 year...heehee!
Please feel free to read my older posts too and as always your genuine comments is very much appreciated.
Before I go off now (probably wouldn't post any more for the time being...)
I would like to wish all and those whom has always been reading and giving me valuable comments my blog...

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
MAY ALL BE IN GOOD HEALTH AND HAVE A BETTER NEW YEAR!

It has been more than a year since I started on my paper toy journey!

Fast forward to Dec 2009 and I have completed 27 paper toys and even came out with my own paper toy line F.A.T.S.
I would like to thank everyone for their support and encouraging comments as these were the catalyst to do even more paper toys.

Revenge Merchandise Tops $850 Million

Categories // Action Figures, Transformers Live Action Movie, Syndicated Blogs

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has brought good news to Hasbro's bottom line with a licensing and merchandise bringing in $830 million worldwide. By comparison, the worldwide gross of the movie is $833.2 million.

This new information comes from a MSNBC article highlighting Hasbro's shift from toy company to multimedia with relationships in the movie industry (TF, GI Joe, Monopoly and more), TV (deal with Discovery Communications for new Hasbro channel), and video games (EA and Activision deals). The company€™s profits rise 9% to $150.4 million thanks to cost cutting efforts and pay off from their multimedia deals increasing toy sales.

It could just be a matter of time before the company hits the number one spot with Transformers 3 in the planning stages, a probably sequel to GI Joe, and more in the works for the next few years. (via TFormers)

Below are more images taken from my lego box.
I've always like the graphics on the LEGO boxes.
Have to admit that the packaging on the LEGO will affect my consideration when purchasing.
Since I don't open up any of my LEGO sets now, the box will be the only thing I can look at.
I'll have to wait till I can have a extra space for a glass cabinet, only will I start to fix the LEGO up.

I got to know about this Death Star LEGO 10188 when I brought the DK Star Wars Visual Dictionary LEGO book.
Before I had only known that there was a Death Star LEGO 10143 which was released in 2005.
In case anyone is interested, the ISBN for the book is : 978-1-40534-747-1 which features the entire Star Wars LEGO from 1999 to 2009.

Seeing this new Death Star 10188, reacting the scenes from many familar Star wars scene, I... simply love this set!
So I started my search on the internet for more informations and look at some videos that were posted on youtube about this Death Star.
Confirmed that I really wanted this set, I set out and brought one home...

F.A.T.S - D44 "Flying Death" with P1 Self Propelling Rocket System, SPRS

Categories // Action Figures, Little Plastic Man, Syndicated Blogs

Another machine to roll out from the F.A.T.S (Future Advanced Tactical System) factories. Presenting the D44 "Flying Death" with the P1 Self Propelling Rocket System, SPRS.
The D44 "Flying Death" is a one man piloted rocket and will usually launch itself from the P1 SRPS . Once launched, the pilot will navigate the rocket and dive into the target. Very much like the Japanese Yokosuka Ohka and Kamikaze in WW2.
Enjoy!

You can view related paper toys news and my paper toys here.
You can view other F.A.T.S war machines here.

Ready for launch

Mcfarlane Movie Manics Eward Scissorhands

Categories // Action Figures, Little Plastic Man, Syndicated Blogs

Edward Scissorhands (played by Johnny Depp) was about an artificial man which was left unfinished with scissors for hands. He was later found and taken in by a suburban family and falls in love with their teenage daughter played by Winona Ryder.
Edward Scissorhands was a 1990 movie directed by Tim Burton.

I have always asked myself why would the scientist who was creating him use large scissors as stand-in for his hands before he could finish creating proper hands for him? Wouldn't it be easier just to get him some prosthetic hands first? Anyway, I think it could have been much worse...Edward Tamponhands or Edward Toothbrushhands....just to name a few.

I remembered the days when Mcfarlane toys were highly sought after because of their 1st class scuplting and them producing characters that will never be able to sustain a toyline, eg their Movie Manics series. The only problem was the lack of articulation in their figures.
Well those days are pretty gone as other companies like NECA, Mezco & Hasbro have also upped their standard. Heck! Even Mattel has sometimes did excellent work, as in the case of their MOTU and Ghostbusters toyline.

Ok back to the review. The sculpting of Edward is excellent and the resemblance of Depp is there. They have even added tiny details like the cuts on his face which is always a nice touch.
I especially like the way they did the hair. It could have been a disaster but thankfully it came out well.
The details of his suit are also good and the texturing excellent. Even at 6", they managed to sculpt his scissorhands pretty well.
Most of the paint ops are clean but there are areas (the buttons) where you can spot some sloppiness.
As everyone is aware, the articulation is pretty bad and you can only get one good pose out of him. However, there is still articulation in his scissorhands which was surprising (in a good way).

Overall, a nice 6" figure to have on your display as Edward Scissorhands is a cult classic.
