Visions of post-apocalyptic landscapes

Categories // The Brothers Brick, Syndicated Blogs, Construction

The ApocaLEGO landscapes we feature here on The Brothers Brick tend to be fairly crowded with action. Kris Kelvin has, perhaps, a more realistic vision for our mutually assured destruction: Garbageman13’s diorama may include a few more survivors, but the detailed building is what I find most striking:

If half-naked minifigs turn you on€¦

…then you’ll no doubt like the Lair of the Bare-Chested Bandits by Philip Stark (Erdbeereis). This vignette depicts the crew of a strange band of pirates “known for their fondness for wearing nothing but skimpy trousers, exposing the thick, muscular and rather smelly flesh of their rugged torsos.” Join them and indulge in their merrymaking [...]

The Spearit pierces through the competition

Categories // The Brothers Brick, Syndicated Blogs, Construction

Tyler Clites (Legohaulic) enters the podrace challenge with an unusually cool and deadly looking design. Called the Spearit, this podracer is claimed to have “no hidden weapons,” and indeed that’s for a fact.

News Channel 3 Chopper

I wasn’t planning to blog any of my contributions to Keith’s big diorama independently here. Then someone told me that they thought my helicopter was the best thing I’d ever built. I thought that in that case, maybe I should post it, in case I never match it again. I hope other [...]

C-5 Construction Mech

Categories // The Brothers Brick, Syndicated Blogs, Construction

Matt (Plastic Matt) has built a really cool mech for the mecha hub civilian mecha contest. I love the feel that this thing captures. It seems industrial and heavy-duty, just like something carrying an I-beam should. The head is just perfect too, though it reminds me of Maximilian from The Black Hole. [...]

Big trains

Categories // The Brothers Brick, Syndicated Blogs, Construction

Full trains are an absolute pain to photograph well but Carl Greatrix has been busy doing rather a good job of photographing a bunch of his. As with Carl’s usual work the level of detail is astounding and the excellent custom stickers add an extra level of realism to his work.

Jarek’s (Jerrec) newest addition to his Swiss fleet is one odd but appealing starfighter called the Cobrahn. The split curvature of the ship is a technique rarely used on space creations. I remember seeing it used on Chris Malloy’s Flying Saucer but not so elsewhere. Furthermore, the shape of the fighter reminds me of Nnenn’s [...]

Keith Goldman builds a community affair.

Categories // The Brothers Brick, Syndicated Blogs, Construction

Keith Goldman’s latest diorama is a true community effort. He has recruited help from twenty other builders in the LEGO community to help him populate his massive highway scene. Moreover, he recruited each contributor in secret, giving each contributor a code name ala Reservoir Dogs. Keith has called it a star-studded affair, [...]

King Crab Mecha

Categories // The Brothers Brick, Syndicated Blogs, Construction

Victor (>>hobo<<) must really like guns. That’s the only explanation I can think of for why his King Crab mecha has at least nine miniguns mounted on it. Disregarding the ridiculous level of armament, this is one cool robot. I know we’ve seen motorcycle bodies used as legs before, but the missile [...]

Monty Python podracer challenges Mac podracer as best LEGO mashup ever

Categories // The Brothers Brick, Syndicated Blogs, Construction

The iPod Racer by Matt De Lanoy may have seemed the epitome of LEGO geekiness — a good thing! — but this “Swallow podracer” by tbone_tbl is quite possibly its equal: The podrace engines that represent King Arthur’s 5-ounce swallows tow a two-pound coconut pod, with the king’s trusty servant Patsy clopping along behind. It remains [...]

Home One - 7 ft. Mon Calamari Star Cruiser

Categories // The Brothers Brick, Syndicated Blogs, Construction

Thomas Benedikt unveils a most spectacular mega model from Star Wars: the Home One Mon Calamari cruiser. This 7 feet long creation features an integrated lighting system that adds an effect of unbelievable realism. I cannot imagine the time and skills involved in such a feat. These impressive stats further confirm that this model will [...]

Treeman, fighter of the nightman

Categories // The Brothers Brick, Syndicated Blogs, Construction

Aaron Dayman (CBLA Member) may not be the champion of the sun, but it looks like his Treeman creation probably is. Just look at how huge it has grown! I know that I blogged about another ent creation a few weeks back, but I just can’t get enough good organic looking creations. [...]
