Scalextric have finished their association with Ferrari and now Carrera hold the unique licence to be the sole producer of Ferrari slot cars from the end of the month.
In an attempt to sell all items of stock that have Ferrari logos, there has been a massive rush to get this year's releases out in time and now are all available. Due to the time restrictions Scalextric have chose to make very limited batch for each item as not to be left with any stock that they would have to dispose of. This has made this year's Scalextric cars like gold dust and collectors dreams. As a retailer we sold out of some cars in less than a week and are unable to obtain any further stock since.

The only item that Scalextric are looking to offer at a discount is a twin pack of Ferrari F430 C2847 for an RRP of £24.99. The cars are the robust versions but for less than £25 for two cars we cannot see how you can go wrong.

We have received news of three new set releases for Hornby, Scalextric and Micro Scalextric. The new products will only be available for independent retailers and are set for release in the second half of the year.
The first item is an analogue release of the Hornby Pendolino R1134 set. Operating on a basic oval and track pack A the RRP of this item will be £129.99

The second release is the only drift set for Scalextric this year, we were thinking that drift racing was going to be a thing of the past with less drift cars set for release this year but we are sure that the new release of the Drift Kings C1264 will be popular. The set comes with the standard figure of 8 track and with two Nissan GT-R cars. This set has an RRP of £99.99

We've already seen how assorted slot car makers are tyring various strategies, like making their models bigger, smaller, slot-less, or using subjects that'll appeal to younger buyers like computer game or movie tie-ins. However, Top Slot have their own niche - they're making super-detailed slot cars deipcting unusual subjects that are nice enough to be display models by themselves!
They also had really nicely set out display cases. Here we can see Mercedes 540Ks, assorted Pegasos, a Cunningham and a Chaparral Can-Am!

I need to head out to Moscow next year for sure!
Toy Russia is the country's leading industry event, with exhibitors coming from all over the world - but most interesting for me was all the great stuff on show that's actually produced in Russia. This ear's event ran from the 23rd to the 26th of March and the organisers were kind enough to send me some pics of the event.

We have completed listing all the Scalextric cars that are set for release this year. Each listing shows the current month that the items are set for release.
This year there are some great cars that are set for release, we feel the Audi R8 is going to be a very popular model for any GT racers. Back by popular demand is the Caterhams. It has been a few years since the cars we available but we expect them to be another great addition to the range.

Other interesting items are the Scalextric start. A cheaper range of sets, twin pack car and track give younger racers and people on a budget a change to get in to Scalextric, the track is very cleverly designed and there are only two pieces of track curves and straights. The new track has an easy connection to allow younger racers to build their own tracks. The cars are very durable but do lack a lot of detail. The guide blades are an old style with the brass lugs holding the braids in place, this is not going to allow younger children to maintain their cars as we all know how tricky it can be to get the braids fitted on this old style guide. But we feel it will be a great addition to the Scalextric range by bridging the gap from Micro Scalextric to the full size sets.
