Last July 14th, I made a blog post to mark the 200th Politoys car to be added to the gallery of my Politoys collection. Well six months later (almost exactly as it happens), I've uploaded the 225th.
The 200th was a not-all-that-rare yellow-orange Alfa Romeo 33 from the Export Series. The 225th, however, is a mega-mega rare M-Series 521 Opel Diplomat V8 in French blue with the red-flocked velvet-effect seats:
It's not quite mint - it has a few small chips, but it is the rarest colour variant by far of this model, which is most commonly found in the metallic dark green variant, with the silver a little rarer.
This example came with one wheel missing, which was stated in the listing. Luckily, I have a wreck in my parts box with all the wheels - and even more luckily, it still had a good radiator grille and headlights, since when this arrived those were also missing! I messaged the seller (who had only photo'd it side-on so the grille wasn't in shot) who claimed they hadn't noticed the grille was gone. I think they were a consignment seller as they said it was shipped to me "in the same condition it came to us". Hmmmm. I'm happy to get the model, though, and I had the spares to fix it, so I decided to let it go, even though I paid quite a lot of money for this - I figure that even if I'd known the grille was missing, I'd still have been willing to pay the same, and since the listing was pretty bad (no gallery photo for one thing), I think I got it for less than it's actually worth.
It's odd that it should lose a wheel and the grille, though, when all the bits that are usually missing on this model are intact - namely the front under-bumper foglamps and the tail-lights (made up of two separate pieces on each side). I don't have spares for any of these, so I was pleased about that.
I guess the next milestone is 250 now...
