I am developing a great interest in the Mini Dinky series produced in 1968. There are a number of toys listed in Dr. Forces book that do not seem to have made it into production. They are as follows:

#15 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow
#17 Aston Martin DB6
#23 Rover 2000
#24 Ferrari Superfast
#25 Ford Zephyr 6
#26 Mercedes Benz 250SE
#27 Buick Riviera
#28 Ferrari Formula 1
#29 Ford Formula 1
#30 Volvo P-1800
#31 VW 1600-TL Fastback
#32 Vauxhall Cresta
#33 Jaguar Mark X

The only evidence I have of them is a smudgy black and white photo from the Dinky Toys and Modelled Miniatures book. I have done extensive searching online for any other pictures of these elusive toys with no luck. Are there any pictures out there or proof these actually made it to market? Thanks in advance for any information.

I think we covered this when I was chasing info on the Mini Dinky Euclid. I\'ll have a look and see if I can find it.

These three cars definitely made it into production as I have seen them come up on ebay from time to time, as well as Dr. Force having pictures of them in his book. Sadly I do not yet have them in my collection.

Cam,
The models in your list have not been issued although they have been advertised in a US catalogue see Great Book of Dinky Toys page 259 or the Dinky Toys encyclopaedia. Mini Dinky have already been discussed in an other thread in which I have posted a picture of one of the Best Box racing cars.
I confirm that the two racing cars and the Tornado have been issued.

You will enjoy it, I have it and it is great reference. I use it in conjunction with the First Book, Modeled Miniatures by M&S Richardson.

The great book usually referred to as the GBDT is excellent and Mike and Sue have done a great job. This book is by very far the best book on the subject, it is superbly printed on an excellent paper, every collector should own a copy.
Now the GBDT is superseded by the encyclopaedia on DVD which has a full page for each Dinky and for the Mini Dinky there are 33 pages and as many pictures. The foreword of this huge document has been kindly written by Mike Richardson and it should be the first item in each collection.

the two I have are common knowledge and the Ferrari 250LM is easy to find.

I gather some of these were actually made. I did some digging and found the Doug McHard collection was auctioned off in 2004. He was marketing manager for Dinky for many years, and was able to keep many rare, discarded items when he retired. I found these while searching so some, at least, were made, although I shouldn't doubt in very small quantities.

Yes Cam some for me mates as well. I can just remember those little boxes at one of our hobby specialist stores. I can remember some of those American cars like Chevy and the likes. I was really into wooden and plastic kit model boat building in those days.

The Volvo P1800 also exists and was sold to the public - a friend's older brother had one when I was little.
