Glad to see that yellow cabin is going to be used for good.  Better than lying in my junk box.  Look forward to the end result, love the concept photos, great idea that.  Gives a very clear picture of what it can end up like.  Well done.  "Go Scammells"

Professor Bear has started the Chop cutting off some of the bits and pieces that are need for the custom build.

Drilled out the rivet on the DAF and stripped it apart.

Professor Bear ducked out into the workshop and informed me it is cold tonight and did a bit of cutting and grinding then shot back inside in a flash.

Cut off the excess metal we don't need and ground back the cutting edge on the back of the tray.

Professor Bear indicates we may have to do some minor adjustments.

Professor Bear advised on using some rubber bands to hold those parts together of a look see.

So far all smiles from Professor Bear indicating that this rig is coming together as planned.

So that is the preliminaries completed and now for the stripping of paint, painting and assembling those parts together. It is planed that a single screw will hold the Cab chassis and rear tray and chassis together while a little bog will fix the rest. Some changes to the rear wheels and front wheels too. We will see what happens tomorrow.

Coming along nicely James and with Professor Bear's help I am sure this will be a good Code 3 when it is finished. Looking foreward to it's completion.

Nice move utilising the original air and fuel tanks as well as the Scammell ones.  Gives it some street cred. with the twin fuel tanks.   Looking good so far, look forward to the result.

Fixing the base chassis together. Being held together by self tapping screw and two part metal epoxy. When cured clean up and finalise finishing.

When painted and final assembly the base plate chassis will be held together is a replacement rivet affixed into the original rivet stem of the DAF tray.

Looks like you have room for a spare tire or a rack behind the cab. Good place to hang chains and stuff.

Next step in the process of the conversion is to have some supportive structural connection purpose inside out of sight out of mind.

Heating up some petrolum jelly for the release agent so the bog wont stick.

As the above image shows that the coldness of the metal sends the liquid vas solid again.

Just add some more heat and smooth out the Vaseline or petroleum jelly whichever. Then wipe off the excess release agent or even give it a bit of a shake and throw off the liquid drops. Learnt some of these skills when I was doing my plasters apprenticeship in the factory when prepping moulds for the casting of fancy cornices and ceiling panels. Only we used some mutton fat, kerosene with the petroleum jelly and wipe it on and smooth it on the the moulds for the release agent.  In my days the apprentice had to learn the hole lot of fibrous plastering trade including solid stucco finishing

This that two part epoxy metal bog which is OK I suppose. Just fill in enough to do the squash out.

Press the other part on that has to be relocated later on when paint is finished.

So this is what occurs after the epoxy has cured and it just pulls apart with a little bit of help.

This also adds strength to the assembled parts when finished.

My favourite two colour blue and another addition to the Scammell collection from Days Gone by Lledo. Made in China but we wont hold that against these superb replication models of the power-horses from the past.

And yes added a spare wheel under the tray. Just like Dinky.

Finished assembling the 6 x 4 long tray rigid Scammell Cursader.

Funny how the fuel tanks differ from the original mock up.
